Mobil 1 0w40

I was thinking about using mobil 1 0w40 euro since I have a couple of jugs in the garage. I think if its good for my bmw then it should be good for the Z. What's your thoughts?

Why? I wouldn't do that.

Run the correct weight. I don't think that stuff is heavy enough.

I used 0W-40 for my when I first got my car. The viscosity was right between the 5W-30 recommended for the street and the 15W-50 for the track, so I thought it was a good compromise and would cut down on oil changes. It also has about the same zinc/phosphorous as the 15W-50. Mobil has recently changed the formulation on the 0W-40, reducing the viscosity to very nearly the same as the 5W-30, it still has a lot of zinc/phosphorous in it however. I'm not sure what the warranty implications are, but since the 0W-40 is not really any thicker than the 5W-30, I just run the recommended viscosities for the street and track. It's a bit of work to change the oil so often, but what are you going to do?

I was going to do both. I was thinking it would be a good compromise between the 5w30 and the 15w50, like you said.

0w-40 is actually a good oil to use. It has more zinc then the 5w-30 and the ideal viscosity for cold starts. It is really a perfect balance and I use to run that on my track Evo.

The Hellcat uses 0W-30.

I used 0-40 in my SRT. I have thought about using it during the summer as a street and track hybrid. It's thinner at start up vs 5-30, and a little heavier at full temp. It seems to me like this would be ideal.

This^. I used it in my Z06 (LS7) for a few years. Good oil.
