Vs the clock
Curious to hear opinions of what you all think my car could do in 1/4 mile. Current mods are in the signature + 3.91 gears and Trutrac on the way.

Theoretically it should be in the low 12s to high 11s, depending on track conditions. I constantly beat the drum in favor of the 3.91 set-up, it'll be fun and informative to see how it works with your hot mods! Have you ran the 1/4 previously and if so how did it do?

Tell us what tire you are using, size and model. You doing all that on pirelli's this setup will go 12's lol, you on a 15" 275 M/T ET street pro you could probably dial in low 11's maybe a ten
I would test and dial in on your taller gears with a real tire than swap to a 3.91 immediately that could be difficult to 60 ft, considering you are on the 6l80E First gear is short as shit as it is. almost 480 to the wheels through an auto is a strong car. |

With first being so short as it is, with 3.91s would it be best to start off in second? I can’t imagine how short first will be with a lower gear.

You dont want to launch in 2nd that is not optimal Because you are on 20" rubber, a 3.91 gear setup will be working against you in a drag race. It will feel faster, you will peel out super easy, but that doesn't win races. If you had a 18 17 or 15 setup i'd feel different. You need rubber to put down all that high stall launch power. I cant imagine you getting traction with anything in the state you are in right now with a 3200 stall and 480 wheel with these bfg tire. IMO this is a mid low 12 car the way you have it, limited by rubber. I highly doubt 3.91 makes it better from a launching drag race standpoint WITH 20's. Do you have any substantial suspension mods? this is a HUGE area for gen 5 cars too. |

I'm guessing a mid to upper 11's for your setup. It's is gonna be determined by what tires you will run at the track. And of course the traction issue you are gonna have with street tires.

I'm 12.4 with your mods drag radials and 391s. I gained 90 whp with my cam swap and ported heads. I should hit high 11s hopefully. 11.7 would be nice.

Yea, that's what I'm shooting for as well. If I can get into the mid 11's with the NT555R2's I will be happy. Haven't had her to the track yet since all the performance mods were done.

480rwhp in an auto car is a lot of power and is getting into the low 11s very high 10s at HRP with a properly set up 5th gen but we are at like 60ft above sea level here. I went the route of getting the car set up first. All I have is rear suspension with bushings, 3200 stall, bolt ons and drag radials and I pulled a 12.2 @113 and I am at 380rwhp. When going to the strip it isn't roll racing so getting out of the hole and traction is the first thing to focus on. Invest in suspension, stall and tires and your car is easily deep in the 11s where I am at. I went from 12.7 to 12.2 with suspension, nittos and mild stall. I think it is possible to get a L99 to tick off a 11.9-11.8 range with perfect air and full boltons, stall, gears and ported intake skinnies. Basically everything except cracking the motor open. Raced plenty of guys on the track with way more power than me and I just can't believe how much money people put in motors and don't put in a couple of grand to put it all down to the pavement.

If this was a Th400, 4l80E transmission swapped 480 rwhp car a 3.91 would HELP the long ass first gear they have. MOST people dribble a crappy 1.9-2.3 60 ft with moderate power and 20" rubber... adding a even more aggressive torque multiplier gear will make launching even HARDER without the help of soft drag tires. 3.91's on a auto car WITH rubber = really fast We are discussing purely a dead stop drag racing scenario with ET's like a track. If this was from a roll in a street race and you dont spin a 3.91 car will appear faster sure, harder torque hit initially. |

On my Camaro before I did the cam swap, 4200 converter. LOD X1 intake she ran a 12.65 @113 on street tires, only had a CAI,LT's, VMAX ported throttle body, x-pipe and an axle back exhaust and a dyno tune, she was at 365rwhp at that time, stock with just a CAI and ported TB and axle back went 13.0...
