Might be leaving the Camaro community
I have come across a 2011 Dodge Charger R/T Mopar that just arrived via trade yesterday at my local Chevy dealer. This car is gorgeous and is basically brand new. The owner bought this car about 18 months ago and barely used it. Apparently he is well off and has several makes and models in his garage stable. He only put 495 miles on the odometer. The car looks spotless and dingless. The dealer is closed on Sunday so first thing Monday morning I'm heading over to check it out. If I like it I think I will make the trade. The 2011 Mopar series only had 1000 cars made of which 900 were sold in the US and 100 in Canada. According to Kelley blue Book, the selling price for a used 2011 Mopar Charger should be $33,000. The dealer is asking $30,000. The car has a 5.7 litre V8 and produces 370 hp and 390 torgue. Combined gas mileage is listed at 18. Of course, I have to figure out how the original warranty would pertain to this car. As I am not too crazy about the changes made to the 2014 Camaro, I figure I can keep this car 2 or 3 years and maybe come back if I like Gen6. OK, anyone want to talk me out of making this move, have at it.

Not sure I could talk you out of it, but out of curiosity, why are you looking to do that? You have a gorgeous, brand new Camaro. IMO, the Camaro looks so much better than the Charger...DON"T DO IT!!!

Why do you care about the 2014 Camaro when you have a 2013. The only Charger worth having is the 392. Unless you really need 4 doors in which case I would get the new Impala.

I hope it's the new body style Charger, bc the last gen Charger had problems of lower mileage mechanical failures.

It is all about personal choice, I would never consider the trade myself. I am pretty sure you will be disappointed with the gas mileage if you think that you will be getting 18mpg, I know people that say that they are only getting around 13mpg. But in the end it will be your choice.

The only way that makes sense is if you need 4 doors...otherwise, it's your $$, if you enjoy wasting it, go for it. And yeah, why the heck does it matter what the 2014 camaro looks like unless you were thinking about buying one.

You mentioned the 5.7 liter motor. The sad reality is that those 5.7 hemis are being smoked by the 6 cyl Mustang. Yes, I said 6 cyl. Hop over to youtube if you'd like to see the embarrassment.
Also, the 2011 5.7 hemi has timing chain issues, as in, they snap. Go over to the Challengertalk boards and look at the problems and issues section. Many owners of the 2009-2011 5.7 owners are reporting this issue. As expected, Dodge is doing the same dance as GM with the 2nd gear grind on our cars. Pick your poison carefully. |

Sounds like you have your mind made up....but I really don't understand getting rid of a 2013 camaro for a 2011 charger. If you need the4 doors...then..yea maybe???? If that's the case...I would just get the ss when it comes out.

I appreciate the comments. I have not totally made up my mind yet but I still plan on doing a test drive first thing in the morning. I do love my Camaro but family considerations are forcing me to consider a change that would be satisfactory to all. And yes I had considered the 2014s because of the V8 itch. And no I'm not crazy about the 2014 refinements plus my family considerations would preclude trading up to another Camaro "at this time".

It's a big black car with a blue stripe on it, I think if you decide to make the trade that's what you'll figure out after owning it a short while.
I mean no offense but maybe if you owned an SS you might be happy owning a Camaro, now owning a SS is no guarantee a person will be happy with it either......there's always something coming from the manufactures that's nicer. Anyways, it's your choice and hopefully you'll be happy with your choice. In the meantime I found a walk around video you might want to check out, there is one part where the guy say's something that tells you what Dodge is all about......let's see if you or anyone catches it.

It's not a bad family car. My wife has an R/T-AWD and it's not bad on gas, mostly highway miles though...around town it's not great.

Now that makes sense. I don't know much about the Chargers, I've always been a Camaro guy, so I never even considered anything else. I know the family thing is big...my son is 3, was 2 when I bought mine. We are only having the one child, so it may not play a part in my ownership. If it does, I will keep it for him, and look into something else. I also have a truck, which helps. I respect the family first every time I hear it, Good luck in your endeavors.
