7 Digit Personalized Plates

Some of you may know that myplates.com is going to have a limited release of 7 digit personalized plates on March 7th at 7AM. I was all excited about this, until I saw the pricing.

$395.00 for 1 year
$695.00 for 5 years
$795.00 for 10 years

I don't mind spending money on things I think are worth it, but I'm still not sure about this. Even if I buy it for 10 years, I'm spending twice what it is from the DMV. The price may come down a little bit later, but I'm afraid by then there will be nothing left to pick from (just like now).

Anybody else jumping on this?

Just seems like so much money for a piece of tin. My plates are as basic as I could get them, still ran me around $100 after registration.

At that price, the appropriate 7 character plate would be:

DUMBA$$

I went ahead and got my plates again in the "T for Texas" style so I can have them on the Camaro AND the ESV! Sux that you have to pay 10 years in advance to get an affordable price.

They still are through the state site...$40.00 a year. My problem is that every 6 digit plate I can think up is already taken. I would expect that 7 digits will be added through that site at some point, but I'm wondering if by that time all the good ones will be taken.

I may just keep my standard plates and be done with it.

Did you try the 6 digit combination as a "T" plate?

Yea...looked at those too. Just not sure I like that one yet. Standard plates are $400.00 for ten years, those are $500.00. Just wondering if I should just bite the bullet and pay the $800.00. At least I'll know it will be mine for a long time.

at that price, I'm sure there will be several different options available when the price comes down... but you never know... as the saying goes, "a fool and his money are soon parted"

I personally am getting one when they are available. I have been waiting for this for a while. Just my opinion though. Everyone is entitled to their own.

I'm like you. I've been waiting for this a long time, so I may just bite the bullet. I guess I'll figure it out before March 7th.

I'm pulling a Red Bull all-nighter just to make sure I get the 7 characters that I want. A little nerdy, but it will be worth it in the end.
