I get the no-hum response to E-Ray so far by enthusiasts because Z06 exists and is priced so closely. E-Ray isn’t a bad car and offers Z06 performance in a more street friendly package.
Also offers push rod V8 sound for those that prefer it (along with some electric motor whine).

But I think response to a Zora will be different because Zora is supposedly going to be LT7+electric. You still get the special powertrain and now something extra to improve traction and go faster. If E-Ray was LT6+electric motor, maybe it would be getting a better reception. The fact it uses LT2 is driving it down among enthusiasts.

Though production/supplier issues have been limiting production with only 750 E-Rays built so far. But market is already back at MSRP.
I don’t think the extra 150-200 hp in the Zora over the already unbelievable 1,064 hp in the ZR1 is going to be much of a swing factor for the Zora, esp given it’ll increase weight ~300 lbs. I would choose a ZR1 over a Zora if those were the parameters.

There are people that will buy something just because it’s the top model regardless if it makes sense or not. In this example though I think an awd drive zora would make sense. Obviously we won’t know until journalists can test the car but right now 1000 hp sounds like a lot for only the rear wheels to put it down. The c8 ZR1 reminds me of the McLaren P1. Amazing car when it came out but was a handful to drive. At these power levels adding weight can help if it’s in the right area which I am confident it will be.

I could very well be wrong though. I think I remember watching a video recently where they talked about managing torque in the lower gears so maybe the ZR1 is an easier 1000 hp car to drive versus older 1000 hp rwd cars.

Even though the price is astronomical, this is the cost of admission in this league. All of the ZR1's competitors demand this price and more.

I haven't heard anything official on price yet.

Expect it to be expensive, but still considerably cheaper than the super cars that it will spank on the track.

Yes I was being pre-mature on its price. Many are anticipating that it will be north of 200k, of which I could see it being. Most of the new vette's competition will be at least double the 200k figure.

Its hard to grasp unless you are rich!!! Now, 1,000 hp corvettes are no longer a novelty, but consider that it was beyond impossible to buy one off the salesfloor at any amount of money.
