Can the polished wheels be polished more?

I saw the standard SS wheel along side a polished set yesterday and although the polished were brighter they weren't a lot brighter. Does anyone know if you can have the polished wheels polished even more to make them really stand out.

You can wax them but they have a coating on them so don't be to aggressive with them or they will get scratches in the coating.

Yes but you have to strip the clearcoat off them first.

Once you remore the clearcoat, you can begin polishing the metal. However, you will always need to keep polishing them unless you seal the work w/ a clearcoat again. The clearcoat stops oxidation which will dull unfinished wheels.

Cool....like the chromed ones. How much did you have to pay for that.

Wouldn't it be better to get the standard wheels if they were going to be chromed?

I'm starting to think I should save the $500 for the polished wheels and gust get the standard SS wheels.

exactly...save the $450 and get the standard wheels. Then get them chromed by CICC in Pomona, CA. Call 800-353-0144 and ask for Curtis Gay. Tell him Chris referred you. (he also ships)

Here is his website:

If I'm reading this right, you're looking at probably $800+ to chrome the 20" wheels and center caps, including shipping and insurance?

Quote:
Automobile
14" - 15" - 16" 17" 18" 19" 20"
$99.00/ea $115.00/ea $135.00/ea $145.00/ea $165.00/ea

Add $100.00 - set of (4) to chrome strip
Add for Center Caps
Production time 5 to 7 working days plus shipping time
Price... plus shipping/handling/insurance. (contiguous 48 states only)
Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico CALL for rates.
NOTE: Ask us for prices on larger size wheels...

Accessories
Chrome CORVETTE center caps 97-99 $100 set of 4
Chrome Lug (factory replacement) $50 set of 20
Chrome Lock Set $20 set of 4

rolonslo:

I live in SoCal. My car should be here within 1-2 weeks. Once it arrives, I will be going to CICC Co in Pomona CA. He will remove the tires from my standard painted wheels and mount them on the Chrome wheels. (he keeps mine as cores) He will then balance them (yes....he has the equipment) and mount them back on the car. ($685 otd) He doesn't chrome the caps becuase they're plastic. (but I really like the machine-look finish on the original caps anyway. NICE CONTRAST)

I'm not sure how his out-of-state shipping procedures work. His website is not really up-to-date. I would call him. Curt 800-353-0144. Tell him Chris referred you.
