I would stay away from poly lowers as well. I know a few people that have them and have no problems (yet), but the weight difference isn't enough to justify having a poly over an aluminum.
Bhobbs brings up a good point about the quad rails. That said, you could go with a piece that has a full rail across the top, and just a nub on the sides and bottom for a grip. If all you're going to do is put an optic, you really don't need it. If you want a foregrip, you could go with Magpul's MOE, which will allow for one, while keeping weight down. I have a rail that I mentioned, because I wanted BUIS on mine instead of a fixed front sight post. I could have went with a railed gas block, but I didn't. PSA is a great site, but their shipping prices increased by quite a bit recently. I would wait until you find a free shipping deal with them. 4th of July sales will be coming within a month and a half

Not really, 1000 round cases of brass case boxer primed Privi are below $600.

I have a gun that shoots $5 bills...
Between re-loading and not bump-firing .308, I'd come out ahead... 30 rds of 5.56 don't last very long around me

I agree with .308. Although my .308 is my competition rifle for my precision rifle matches so those bullets are expensive .

AR15 is a pleasure to shoot, and even kids can handle it, I'll always have at least one.

Cheaper than my Barrett M95 to shoot. The last case of Hornady .50 A-max 750 grain cost me $870 for a 100 rounds! But... it's worth every penny!
I've been exploring the Idea of an MRAD in .308 but the wife is not onboard with the price of the rifle.... YET!

A local guy is reloading black tips for $380-100... haven't tried it yet, but couldn't beat the price, especially when flinchers want to shoot it... AMAX is a waste then.
