L99 cam sensor question

I am planning to install a cam in my car soon. I will either go with the VVT-3 cam or delete VVT and put in a large LS3 cam.

My question is regarding the cam sensor. I know that regardless of which method I go with the same cam sensor will be used but if I delete vvt and install an LS3 front timing cover, will I need a new sensor cable or can I use the existing cable?

Seems some folks had a new cable and sensor installed and I am wondering if that is really required.

Thanks

you can modify your bracket and harness to work with the ls3 style cover

Thanks! I wonder what's involved in modifying the harness. I don't mind buying a new cable if it makes life easier though.

better off just modifying your harness, it is simple, plus if you buy the short ls3 harness it wont plug into your main wiring harness anyways

just modify the bracket and zip-tie the extra plug for the vvt to the side

Just cut the wires out of the harness for the vvt sensor if you delete it. I just did one 2 days ago. You'll also have your afm sensor plug left loose on the back side of the valley cover.

Thanks for the clarification. I will do just that if I delete vvt.

I see that you have the mast vvt cam. Do you have any videos of how it sounds? Also, how is it driving with that 3200 stall?

Thanks
