Need advice launching with 3600 stall

What's the best way to launch at the drag strip without spinning out? My car is cammed with stock tires. I've never raced on the drag strip before and can use some advice. I have a 3600 PI converter. Thanks

You need tires period with that combo otherwise you will be sadly disappointed with your ET's. a good DR will help you alot!

Yeah i need some serious tires. I guess I'll have to experiment with the throttle and maybe 2nd gear launch. I'm sure the results won't be good though.

I guess you are referring to Union Grove. It rings a bell now although I've never been there. I heard nothing but bad things about that place. I plan to run at C5 Fest.

2nd gear launch? I wouldn't do that.

Actually it is perfectly fine to launch in 2nd gear and that's how I launch my car on the spray. Lets me get more power to the ground quicker. First gear is impossible with a progressive nitrous setup, 200 pills, race gas and NANO.

You're going to have to experiment and slowly roll onto the gas, but you're not going to like your times.
My old SS was at a similar power level you're at and with the 3600 stall it would blow the tires off at 30mph.

Great Lakes Dragaway (Union Grove, WI) is not bad, just some days not hook well.

If you really want to dial in the car you'll have to go there or Byron or NLR.

Jeff at Lucas Raceway could very well have the track glued real good so you might do decent. Good luck.

Rhino, do you have your TCM programmed to start in 2nd? If not, how do you accomplish this?

Easy. Tap shift it into 2nd gear, then as soon as you launch shift it up in to D and make the pass. As long as your D tune is the same as your S tune in the TCM, should work.

Would it be better to have less gear and actually use the 1st gear in the trans vs. taking off in 2nd with the 3.91's?
I assume the reason for doing this is Bc with 3.91's, nitrous, and the A6 1st gear being so low you would blow the tires away?
