Proud ZL1 owner with bowtie questions

Hey guys, I have been a long time reader of the forums and decided to finally join when I recently traded my 2010 2LT RS for a Victory Red 2013 ZL1. Huge upgrade to say the least! (Pics coming soon)

So down to the meat of this post! I obviously want to get those gold bowties off the car. The one I'm having trouble with primerily is the front bowtie. I've found atleast 15 guides but they are all for the different grill camaros. In the ZL1 the bowtie is completely surrounded by the black grill insert (lack of a better word). Any tips or ways to get this damn thing off?

Finally, glad to be apart of the community and hope to see you on the road out there

I didn't really care for them as well. I just decided to black them out and leave the chrome color on the borders.

i believe there is a DIY post on our grills in the DIY section. But in a nutshell...remove the shroud under the hood over the grill area and then there are tabs holding the bowtie in place. Just depress and the bowtie should come out. Correct me if I'm wrong anyone, it has been a while since I looked up the DIY on this.

I called myself looking for a DIY on the zl1. All I could find were for the older style grilles.

What sspddmn said.
two tabs and the whole bowtie on the front will slide out. remove the shroud around the hood latch to make it easy to reach down in. Wasn't easy the tabs are really stiff.

not sure about the the rear, I just replaced the gold inlay.

Great looking car! Congrats! I believe these cars do look better without the big front bowtie. Black out would help the look, but complete removal would be better.

Big Worm Graphics has a 3d carbon fiber layover for the gold R & R bowtie. They fit well and install is easy.

I just took the two bolts out for my hood latch moved it to the side stuck my hand down and depressed the tabs on the bowtie insert and it came out and viola i stuck the other in. Quick note: if you do this this way, mark the exact top and bottom positions of your bolts in the hood latch so that it lines up exact again. Real easy

I agree. The bowtie is big and a distraction from the rest of the good design of the overall car. Is it possible to remove the bowtie completely from the ZL1 grille? In my view that would be optimal...
