Exhaust ?’s about drone

Hey guys I have a 2013 ZL1, it’s built H/c/Magnuson e85, my current exhaust setup is 2inch American racing headers to catless full 3 inch stainless works. It sounds great and doesn’t drone but it’s really loud and I’d like to quiet it down but don’t want to get drone at all. I was wondering what mufflers you would recommend? I was thinking a bullet style by the tips. I know the Kooks bullets would quiet it down but I was wondering if I would get drone. Thanks for any input.

I still have the stock NPP mufflers and added bullet style ones upstream in the tunnel to tone it down at idle and part throttle cruise but it still howls at WFO. No drone for me.

This might be your best bet to quiet it down with no drone. Only thing about it is it is 2.5 in and out. I had one and it worked great. I was straight piped until I could get a catback on there. The thing about adding mufflers is most of them will give you some drone, unless they are made like the Corsa systems mufflers, which I have their ZL1 sport catback on there now. Loud but quiet cruising and no drone. I even had Magnaflow's behind my quad tips at 1 time, and they didn't get rid of the drone I was not liking anymore. Good luck.

Hi Flow Cats will quiet it down except for Cold Start and WOT, no drone.. The original ZL1 NPP mufflers are pretty good.

Jones makes a dual 3" in/out with an internal x-pipe which will quiet it down.

Or, you can use a set of Vibrant resonators just off the header collector.

I have ceramic coated headers and high flow cats. The rest is stock exhaust. It is reasonably quiet cruising and very loud at WOT.

No crazy upgrades to power on my car, just pulley, injectors and air box.

I actually enjoy that its as quiet as stock and then when I lite it up on a Mopar product the look on their face and when they catch up on the wind down they go, Damm whats in that thing...

Love my corsa setup but when I changed to 2 inch headers and no cats it’s loud as hell on Cole start and pops and cracks like crazy changing gears or backing out of the gas.
I was gonnna go with a bullet exhaust cause of their mild to Wild setup but no one would call me back when I called their line. Granted it was during Covid. November 2020

Stock NPP is the best bet.

The only dual mode 3in exhaust that i know of for the 5th gen is the Billy Boat Fusion catback.

I also added this

Gives me more control over the stock NPP exhaust.

Originally I was shorty headers/solo hi-flow cats and Flowmaster 3” with x-pipe. They had tiny resonators. Worked well until I did a cam swap. Drone was horrid. Bought Solo Performance j-pipes for the back. Works awesome. Still decently loud outside with zero drone inside.

The American Racing Header Quad Tip is a mild sounding 3 inch muffler that have very minimum drone at cruising. The link can give you an idea of how they sound on a ZL1 that has 2 inch ARH Headers with 3 inch exhaust all the way to the back, it does have a ARH X pipe no cats.
