upper pulley install?

Can someone tell me how long it takes to change out the stock upper pulley hub for a 2.5 upper pulley hub and ring?

Well you have to pull the snout off. Pull off the old one (Can be quite a job). And use a Press to press on the new one. Most of the upper pulley options are 1 piece. While the snout is off, probably would be a good idea to have the isolator replaced with a Solid one. IMO, the best way is to take the snout off and take it to a shop that has done it a few times, not worth the tools or hassle to do it yourself in your garage if you don't have easy access to them. I've seen shops that will pull off and press on a new pulley for $35.

I'd say you could do it in 2 hours. You'll need an immediate tune.

Thanks. I've a 2014. I thought GM went to a solid isolator in 14?

The 14's are a grey area for the isolator....

If you have an early build 14, it may contain the spring type isolator. You can easily check by removing the blower belt and rotating the pulley.

If it's nice and tight with no slack, you have the solid isolator.

Even the GM ones that were supposedly solid in the '14s and maybe '15s have had issues. I mean, I'm not trying to convince you to do this, but once you spin this blower more with the 2.55" upper then you're toasting that specific 10 yr supercharger warranty or whatever length they made it for covering the isolators. You'll have to pull the snout/blower off again and fix it on your dime if it ever goes on you which in fairness it may not.

I just did my 14 upper and while its a solid isolator the plastic and fitment of the lingenfelter / metco is different. You can definitely see how the gm isolator could develop slop and noise through heat cycles and age.

This is what I was getting at. The aftermarket ones are just built/designed better.

Can I ask how you took the supercharger lid off? The back two bolts aren't accessible. GM says drop the motor...Yikes. Some are drilling holes through the wiper cowl. I don't really like that idea either. Any other options? Thanks

Drop the engine cradle, and that's not that bad unless you are working from jackstands. I just posted how you do it to some guy from Chile last week trying to replace his oil pressure sensor.

You are installing larger injectors with this 18% pulley correct?

It is much better to upgrade the crank pulley and leave the stock upper.

Ted.
