Taking sideview mirrors apart...
I plan on getting my sideview mirrors repainted from the rock chips they've sustained over the years. I want it done right, though; in that I would like to separate the two housing pieces and paint them individually rather than as a unit.
The problem is, even though I know how to remove the entire sideview mirror assembly from the door, I don't know how to take apart the two halves that make the mirror housing. As you can see, there is a seam going along the sideview mirror indicating there are two halves that make up the housing. Is there some kind of retainer, bolt(s), locking mechanism, or clip that holds these two halves together? Because I can't figure out for the life of me how to undo them. Tried looking at the 2010-2011 Camaro service manual and found no resolution. Thanks. |

You have to pop the mirror out, remove the motor, and then remove the screws holding the housing together before you can separate the 2 halves. Read my pdf for complete disassembly info: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...9&d=1422244609
