This is why I wanted to keep the AFM.

As of today, still no CEL. All is well.

CEL and Ticking Sounds

I'm glad to hear some of you were able to get your Borla systems running as advertised.

In my case I'm still not at 100% yet. I replaced my old catback system (P/N 60609) last month with their latest redesigned AFM valves and I'm still getting a CEL (P0420), but now accompanied with an annoying ticking sound.

The ticking sound can be slightly heard when driving in V8 mode (more with windows down) and can definitely be heard when the car switches and runs in V4, both with windows up or down.

I've noticed that the ticking sound in V4 mode is also louder when I'm light on throttle gradually increasing speed. Very annoying hearing the ticking on my morning commute when I don't always want to have the radio on. Interesting enough is that running the car in cruise control helps reduce the ticking sound significantly. Of course that is only when the car is running on a flat road or downhill and acceleration is either constant or none.

Could it be that the AFM valve module may have been screwed on too tight restricting swift movement of the valves?

Now what about the CEL? I checked for leaks and multiple muffler shops confirmed that everything is installed correctly. The last time I cleared the code, I saw it come back was when the car converted from V8 to V4.

I'd hate to say it but I'm starting to think that I should have just gone with the axle back set-up and save myself the headaches and money. Not sure if the catback was worth it. I have friends who did a basic 2nd cat delete to their stock setup while running an axle back set-up and have no problems.

That's not good to hear. The slightest leak on the drivers side where the lap joint is, right behind the primary cat, will throw a code. I had that problem with my M6, a little copper gasket sealant solved the pro let for me.

I've not had an issue after the x-pipe was replaced.

Sorry to resurrect.

Is anyone hearing buzzing or vibration noises? I don't get a CEL, but something sounds like its either a) loose or b) touching underneath the rear seats.

I have been back to the install shop several times, today, the manager sat in the car, and he confirmed hearing the sound. But he assured me the Borla has ample clearance.

The shop recommended tuning out the AFM to smooth out the sound. I have my doubts, but I ordered a range device to see if this is a fix.

I'm kinda at a dead end.

Borla 11925 and 60610.

My wife's daily, but I drive it on occasion. She hasn't said anything to me about it and I haven't noticed anything unusual.

May be touching the crossmember.

This thread was poorly named (inferring an issue with all Borla's catbacks) when the OP's issue was was his AFM valves. Not NPP valves or Borla's axle back mufflers- just the catback X-pipe for automatics.

Now the length of the thread with the current title create the impression there is an on going problem. I've got the manual trans (no AFM valves) with Borla's 60606 sleeve clamped to the stock NPP muffler and IMHO, the car sounds like beast!I couldn't be happier. No CEL, no issues.

Thanks Borla and sorry about all the (apparent) bad press. Lets try to stay on point guys or start a new thread.

I agree the title is misleading. If one of the moderators would be so kind as to retitle this thread. It would help a bunch.
