Just to add to the thread, I have the Michelin SS in 315 in the back and 295 in the front.
Great street tire, but like almost all, less traction in the cold. I live in NH and I drive until the salt truck comes out. The stock tires were impossible in the cold or rain. The Michelin's are reasonable if you pay attention.

I get some groove tracking but the understeer isnt bad, that is why I went to 295 in the front since I figured it would give me more bite and less understeer.

R compounds are only good for track days. You will pick up everything on the road and they won't last long at all. I think the thread wear rating on the R88's I had with my 99 SS was 50 or 100. They were sure sticky at track days though! Loved them.

I have 295/315 and I'm lowered with no rubbing issues. If you lower your car just make sure you get it re-aligned or there is a chance it could rub. As far as the cold goes, even these tires are a huge improvement over stock but considering your in Illinois you will definitely need winter tires regardless if you plan to drive it during that time.

Yeah I have a pair of sottozeros (305 rear, 285 front) hopefully they are decent in cold weather! My car is currently not lowered so that's good to hear even as you are lowered you experience no rubbing! I was worried the 295 front could cause issues along the line.

Do you have the Ferrari Spec (105Y) in the Front or the Porsche (103Y I believe)?

I was told a long time ago . No question is stupid if you don't know the answer.

I had 295 MPSS tire mounted on my car. My only complaint was the tire stuck out at the top of the fender 1/8". I was more concerned with paint damage. we cycled the tire left to right without any clearance issues. I went with the 285s. They grip much better than the Goodyears. The Goodyears take 15 minutes to grip as well as the Michelins do cold.

I have seen threads like his before and the general consensus is always the same. The Michelin Pilot super sports are the tire to buy for the Camaro.

Now I have a 1le that is needing tires soon and the only thing I can't seem to see is some good shots from the rear quarter and front that show me if the tires look as tough as the Goodyears that it came with

PLease help with this. If you have the 285's all around on a 1le that would be great ,but also if you have 285's or 295's in the front and bigger in the back, 305's or whatever that would be great

Thanks
Jim
