Just wondering if others have noticed raw or excessive fuel smell after installing this cam. I know this cam has some blow by because when the intake is opening the exhaust is not fully closed. I'm wondering if this is the reason for the excessive exhaust smell. or could it be the tune my tuner gave me. thanks. I still love this cam regardless. I want to get rid of the cats but the smell will get worse.

Ive not really met a cammed car that didnt smell like exhaust. I have the BTR PD Blower 3 cam as well and it smells less like fuel, more like burnt fuel. Do you moitor with an AFR gauge? Rich settings could be the culprit aka tune

check ur tune first if not too rich then add a second set of cats to your exhaust will help alot.

no I dont monitor A/f ratio, but I'm in the process in getting a aerometer gauge. I think it's more like burnt fuel yes. irratates my eyes and noise alittle.

never heard that two cats. I worry about these cats coming apart anyway. i know they can do some damage to the engine. well I will be getting a new tune because of upgrades. and I'll be working with a new tuner.

where are you located in Michigan? If you are in metro detroit...use Dr Phil to tune it....he is the best LS tuner in the area

he rarely does a private appointment, but he tunes for a lot of shops. Call Katech. He is their tuner.

EOIT (injector offset timing) has to do with injection timing. With more of a cam, more timing is added (for idle and low rpm). This really affects the stinky. I had to add (retard) 50* timing with my stage 3 cam. Has to do with exhaust valve opening and injector squirting. Retarding that timing will give you less stinky. There are some Excel calculators out there to enter the cam values and it provide what timing needs to be added to fix (most) of it.

End of injection timing is going to change it so little. That's just how it's going to be. That is the design of that type of cam to get a super fresh charge each cycle. #racecar #loud&smelly

put cats on it or build a turbo car if you want to have class next time

Have to disagree. Tuning EOIT greatly reduced the smell in my car, not to mention it starts and runs better after.

The excessive smell comes from injecting fuel with the exhaust valve open.
