Oddly enough after only a week of driving this car, the clutch engage point has shifted almost 3 inches worth of travel, from immediately engaging at the floor like I previous stated, to now, in the top 1/3rd of travel like others have reported.

I know there is some break-in, but the amount of change in 300km kind of surprises me. I don't ride the clutch, and my last manual had the same clutch for 12 years and is still as good as new, so it's not my driving.

Bringing this thread back to life - My clutch engagement position on my 2011 has also increased from the below the brake pedal to above the brake pedal now. Anyone know what could be causing this?

Mine engages just a little bit off the floor. Have about 1/3 of freeplay in the top of the pedal.

Never any issues.....yet!!!!

mine also engages toward the upper 1/3 of travel.

when i had my mazda, it was the same way until i burned the clutch really bad one night, trying to get out of the way as fast as possible from a drunk driver speeding toward me from the opposite direction. after that, the engagement point was closer to the floor. i'm pretty sure this was because the clutch pad was thinner after that. there was a horrible odor, smoke and everything.

that incident also very slightly warped the clutch disk i think, because it felt like a very slightly warped brake rotor feels like. also had that issue with the mazda, despite babying the brakes. they got gradually worse until it the steering wheel shook pretty violently. this all happened in less than a year and after a lot of arguing with the dealer that brakes shouldn't warp that quickly, they fixed them for free. they then told me for 2010+ mazda 3s, the rotors warp after 6 months on average. they even told me i lasted longer than most people do, as far as warped rotors go on that car.

edit: by the way, that whole incident with the horrible brake rotors on that mazda is what gave me that final push to trade it in and get a new car, which ended up being my camaro, so it all worked out very nicely in the end
