Ok so last night..

me and a buddy were coming up I-95 north. I just installed my CAI a few days ago and this was my first highway trip, so i reset the average mpg. After 129 miles at 71 mph i look and it says 23.2!! Anyone got any idea what would make it so low? car is stock rather than the CAI.

hrm...not really sure!

What is the mileage on your car? Maybe needs more breaking in?? Just a thought.

I'd think you should have gotten around 27 or more MPGs, especially if the CAI was working properly. Maybe that is the problem....maybe the air/fuel ratio is off a bit because of the CAI. But most CAIs out there seem to perform pretty well now, so I wouldn't expect that either.

It is an injen and ive got 3000 miles on the car....I wish I had something to compare to from when I had a stock Intake...maybe I did something wrong on the install?

yeah, it's hard to gauge with no stock numbers to compare to. slap your stock intake back on and see what you get then. It does seem really low. That's about what i get driving in the city. lol

double check the PCV hose at the back of the valve cover on the driver's side... make sure you didn't pull it out when you installed...

I'm not completely sure which hose that is, but i checked all the hoses i could see on the driver's side and they all seemed to be tight. Although i noticed that when i got my injen, there was only one bolt included to put the MAF on the intake tube. i have the one tightened and i can't move it around the other side, but i'm thinking this is the problem maybe?

How cold was it outside and make sure you put the MAF back in facing the right direction?

Also be careful always trusting the trip computer. These are not always accurate, before I make mods I try and hand calculate mpg before and after.

I would also recommend putting on a couple more miles before I worry to much. Drive your normal routes for a couple hundred miles and see what it is telling you.

I hardly get over 23 or 24 on a stock intake. Nothing bad about 23.

In this weather at 70 mph that MPG sounds normal. In the summer I've gotten up to 38 mpg on flat ground at 55 mph with cruise on so I know my car is running right.

A few weeks ago I did a 170 mile trek at 70 mph and got 24 mpg so yours sounds right.

I didn't know that was normal!! i figured it would be hurt in the winter but geez...you were on cruise the whole time with no stops and all? If this is normal so be it, but i'm hoping the missing hex bolt on the intake may have something to do with it....
