Gees...really bad luck, but it could have been a lot worse. However, I've read stories on C5 of people with a lot more mods running forever on stock rear end parts. Who knows why things happen.

Half shafts are that easy to replace? Holy cow. Had no idea.

How much are OEM half shafts?

Not really planning on breaking something but just in case I do would be good to know...

Yeah, I go balls out when I go to the track and have been racing long enough to know that racing is breaking. Most people don't go to the track on sticky enough tires to break parts.
A bad launch technique when I first got drag radials is what I think did me in. I know now that I hurt my diff a few months ago and it finally locked up when my axle broke (it may have locked up first and that contributed to the axle breaking). I got some more back ups and I'm ready to hit the track again.

They are if you have pulled them out a few times before. You can find them pretty cheap. I bought a brand new take out set for like $130 shipped I think. If you work on these cars and know lots of other people who work on these cars you can trade parts for them or even get some for free.

That sucks.

However, the angle of this picture came out rather neat. Look at the black squiggly line on the RV behind the picture. It almost makes it look like a ghostly image coming off the Camaro.

They drive AWESOME on the street. Some guys use these as road course and auto cross tires so that tells you how good they handle. I haven't been caught in the rain, but obviously slow down because they don't have any tread. I usually put them on the day before I go to the track and have no problems driving around on them a few days after if I'm to lazy to swap back right away.

Here is my thread on them with more pics.

did you have any wheel hop when you broke that have shaft CV joint?...that's what it looks like...maybe consider some upraded trailing arms and diff bushings to reduce your diff deflection and wheel hop. Like you said...racing is breaking...but a few upgrades might save you some money in the long run and result in more success at the track.

I got a little too excited and didn't slip the clutch enough. She didn't even move when it broke.

Ginger doesn't wheel hop anymore.
All this went on the week after I got her.

The turbo I posted was for my race truck.
