Question about going from 1100 to 2000

Heres the deal. I ordered my Camaro a few weeks ago. The dealer told me it would take about 10 weeks to get. He said he has 3 Allocations and that I am #2.

Now here is my question: I read some where else that it is the dealer that moves your order from 1100 to 2000 once they have an allocation. Is this true??? If it is and my dealer supposedly has 3 Allocations why is he not advancing my order to 2000???

I sat at 1100 for months, the dealer has to wait till the allocation is accepted my GM for production. May take awhile or get picked up soon. Its easy to say be patient BUT I'm no good at that either. I ordered in January and I still haven't gotten a car. My patience is very very thin at this point but what can you do about it? Nothing so go have a beer and chill.

My dealer told me three months and that he had allocations. My car is the 2nd of 5 orders waiting. I ordered June 9th... last time I checked I was at 1100.... So like everyone else I wait....

Well how many weeks ago did you order? I mean 10 was probabbly a guesstimate, but if you ordered say 3 weekss ago your not gonna see it in ten. Assuming there were no problems to speak of right now, once you go to 3000 it generally takes another month for your car to be built and another 3 weeks on average till its delivered thats 7 weeks. So unless you go to 2000 & 3000 before weeks end, 10 is not looking good. Doesn't mean dealer lied just means they gave best estimate.

Well I am not overly concerned with it being here in the 10 weeks he quoted I was just wondering if he has allocations like he said why it hasn't moved yet. Like I said I read some where else that it is the dealer who moves you to 2000 once they have an allocation. That made me wonder why I was still at 1100.

People/dealers seem to be confused about what "allocation" means. Customers placed orders with a dealer. The dealer enters it in the system and gets an order number. This order sits at 1100 (preliminary) until GM grants allocation for the vehicle. Once allocation is granted (on a thursday), the order goes to 2000 status anywhere from Thursday to Tuesday, depending on whether they do it themselves or wait for it to be pulled in automatically.

If a dealer has multiple orders for an allocation group (such as Camaro) and receives only one allocation, the top priority (1) will get the allocation and will move ahead to Placed status.

If a dealer is telling you "It'll be 3 months. I have allocation", that just doesn't compute. it doesn't make sense. allocations must be filled within the order week they are granted. The dealer may mean to say that his consensus shows that he's projected to get more allocation in 3 months.

They tend to mix the wrong terminology with their explanations and then you come here and get the right info and get confused

Am I making sense to you?

he could have allocation and it just not be picked up yet, meaning it might get accepted tomorrow or next week, the dealer knows when they have allocation but I think its only accepted once a week(could be wrong). But its true that if they have allocation the minute your order is accepted you do change to 2000.

It all seems very confusing. Here is exactly what he told me:

"I have an allocation for 3 Camaro's, at this point yours is number 2 of the three, yours should be accepted in the next 4 weeks, then 2 for 3 weeks get a production date, then after built 2 weeks to us and all this might change as we go along, a shortage of any parts would add time to build, a shortage of parts on someone else's Camaro will get your built faster.

If need any thing, just let me know."

Maybe you can translate it.

Sounds like he has 3 total allocations but only gets one at a time excepted every few weeks?

I think this is what is happening to me. Dealer told me he had 7 allocations which he received mid June, I was 4 of that 7. The inventory manager told me I was coming up...shouldn't he know exactly when?
