the government going after the reigning All Time (and single season) Home Run King Barry Bonds is probably the greatest waste of money yet.

It's a production car, but it's just not street legal.

Mustang owner here. I think saying that the 5.0 will "flatly destory" all camaros or what ever it was is completely childish and foolish. I think it is a drivers race as long as we are talking about the Manual SS and not the auto. I think the stang has a slight advantage but not all stangs. Mine with its 3.31s is probably slower in a drag race (while faster on a road course ((boss front valence, rear Shelby GT 500 diffuser) giving the SS manual the advantage. There are so many variations of these cars and variations of what can happen it truely is a drivers race.

I do happen to think the Mustang is the better over all car (build quality, available options, handling, driver view, resale value, interior, sound, 26-27mpg, 10,000 mile oil change interval, available nav, larger trunk, M3 like road course performance etc etc.) but anyone who just comes into the Camaro5 forum saying stupid fan boi crap about how all 5.0s murder Camaro SSs deserves to be slapped frankly. (the joking and ribbing i gave a few guys here when the 11 track performance was FIRST announced notwithstanding obviously!)

i think the fastest 5.0's to date have been 3.31 geared. While the 5.0 has a clear and definate advantage, on average its still a close race. there has been maybe half a handful of posts (or less) saying anything remotely close to "all 5.0s murder Camaro SSs"

What? Mines in the top teir? News to me, all the mags review the 3.73 versions. I bought the 3.31s because its soooo SMOOOOOTH to drive.

Ok good, i was afraid that some idiots were giving us mustang owners a bad name. I leave all the "bad name" reps to all the Camaro Guys who had about 10 months of "Camaro SS's will murder all mustangs" and "Even a V6 Camaro can beat a Mustang GT" back in 10.

We should never stoop to that level my friend, even if the advantage of the 10 camaro over the 10 mustang was much greater than the advantage of the 11 mustang over the 11 camaro....we should STILL never stoop to their level. LOL

Besides, on the topic of "smooth ride", the SS i drove was much smoother a ride (like a cadilliac) compared to either my 10 or my 11.

That's correct the quickest GT's are the tallest geared.

I bet it runs 11's or damn near on stock tires with some mineshaft air and the right track prep. However, I don't expect a lot of the bosses to stay stock for long.

The 3.73 is too much gear on stock tires and it puts you in the position where you may have to shift into fifth right before the 1320 marker. The fastest manual cars have been 3.31s, but overall fastest 5.0s have been the autos with the 3.15. With a drag radial I'd be willing to bet it would turn out a bit differently. More gear isn't always better.

I saw a bunch of new 5.0 Mustangs at pony wars this past weekend running 12's bone stock all day long. (by the way, I am a habitual liar and am off my meds too).

Anything is possible, but no offense, I'll believe it when I see it.
