Weak Timing Chain on 2010's
I know GM addressed this at some point, but anyone know when? Trying to figure out if mine is one of the lucky 2010's that has a crappy timing chain.

I thought it was for our engine when used in other model cars, I haven't heard of any Camaros having this issue.

Well I'm not sure, I know Scrming talked about his wife's vehicle having the LLT and mentioned the weak timing chain. Not sure if our's actually had the same chain or not, but I thought early 2010's did.. maybe not..

I see you have SW headers. LT's I assume? Which exhaust do you have them paired with?

Found 2 threads on this subject. Along with the answer I posted a while ago that discussed this change in part numbers. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...6+timing+chain http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...light=12616609 post # 66 Checked into this question, here is what I found. 12633451 and 12623452 were in production from 15July10 Timing chains are the same in all of the 3.6 engines #12616609 for the primary chain #12616608 for two of the secondary chains They HAVE been changed up to #12633451 for Primary and #12633452 for secondaries. Hopefully this will correct the issues. It looks like GMPartsDirect caries all 4 part numbers.Primary ChainGM PART # 12616609CATEGORY: AllPACK QTY: 1GM LIST: $43.47OUR PRICE: $25.28Secondary'sGM PART # 12616608CATEGORY: AllPACK QTY: 1GM LIST: $49.56OUR PRICE: $28.82Primary ChainGM PART # 12633451CATEGORY: AllPACK QTY: 1GM LIST: $42.84OUR PRICE: $24.91Secondary'sGM PART # 12633452CATEGORY: AllPACK QTY: 1GM LIST: $49.11OUR PRICE: $28.55

Cat does not mean the VIN# after need to be changed yet? Or did the factory make the necessary changes during build time?

I believe we discussed this on this forum or the other one, but if you keep the oil changed regularly and use high quality oil you shouldn't have an issue. Right?

Correct. That is what I have been told by my sources. Just keep the oil changed and you should be good. The issue was when the oil was left in to long and the dirt and friction started to wear on the chain.

What are the warning signs? Do they get noisy or does the timing start bouncing all over the place or what?
