How much horsepower am i going to lose?

I just dropped off my 2010 Camaro at a shop in order to swap out my current flowmaster cat back, for a Corsa catback. I just realized that the Flowmaster cat back is 3", while the Corsa is 2.5".

My car currently puts down 420 HP to the rear wheels with longtube headers, cam and tune. Am I going to lose a noticeable amount of power?

Exhausts are usually for sound, if you lose anything it would be minimal at best

Zero.

Dyno shows that cat backs don't do jack for these cars aside from sound.

You might actually gain some power. Corsa systems are straight through and generally outflow Flowmaster exhaust system.

I thought going from 3" to 2.5" would hurt performance.

Well, you might loose like 1/2 of a hp if any. But probably not because Corsa is alot better at the systems they make vs Flowmasters.

I think that this would only be a factor if you were FI.

Unless you are talking about forced induction, cat backs have very little impact on the dyno on these cars. Also the Corsa is much less restrictive than the Flowmaster muffler design so it would probably be a wash anyways. I would only expect a change in sound.

2.5 corsa will support a lot of horsepower/flow the restriction on these cars is the exhaust manifolds/down pipes with cats

That would be true if you were utilizing the extra girth of the exhaust. Fact is, 2.5in is MORE than enough to support mild to moderately modded LS3's. One you start moving some serious air, moving to 3in will start to shine.
