I'm from Tallahassee, FL but wasn't able to attend this year (car was in the shop b/c of an accident plus wedding in the next few weeks put a squash on my finances for a bit).
Tallhassee, FL is only about 2 hours away but I'm saying we have it in Las Vegas next year. And then alternate years, Valdosta, Vegas, Valdosta, Vegas..etc. Vegas is western but it's not all the way on the California coast either, plus a lot of people will go for the car meet and as a vacation to Vegas. I think alternating east/west is the most fair way to do it so that everyone gets a chance to participate...plus I know if Camaro5fest is in Vegas next year I'll be putting in my time away from work form today!

Keep in mind IF it's located in Texas or Kansas there will likely be double the attendance there was this year. Or maybe even more; so planning has to take into account the impact that many cars and people will have on the local area. Enough lodging? Gas stations? Street access? Parking? etc.
I live fairly close to the California Speedway and I can tell you when there's a big event it hammers everything for miles around. It's hard to get around town because of traffic, roads get "redirected" by the local police, long lines at gas stations, restaurants, etc. if you can even find a parking space. So for an event of this magnitude the access into and out of (near a major highway) and the impact 1,000 vehicles suddenly arriving will have. I saw the pictures people posted of the incredibly long line of cars to get to the track that day; double that number of cars if the event is pulling from both coasts. It's not just going across country but how the roads are situated; after looking at the map Heartland Park in Kansas looks like it has good location for the two interstate arteries coming from both northern and southern California. Looks good coming from the north, south and east too. That actually looks like a pretty good location access-wise as long as the area can handle the traffic. Lots to consider but getting started now is the smart thing.

Is it going to be in spring again? I know a bunch of people wanted to go but couldn't because of school or because their kids were still in school.

Yeah, April is a bad time for college/university students. Early May would work out better, right between the end of exams and going to work.

All in all, anywhere is fine for me, I just have to plan several months ahead to make it.
PS, Heartland Park (topeka ks) held the SCCA National Championships in '08 with like 1,100-1,200 Drivers... so it is ue to large crowds Alternating East coast / West coast sounds like a cool idea too

Someone should start a poll with say four options East/West/and a couple of mid points to get a feel for where attendies would travel to, to get a reference point.
I would have loved to have attended this years fest, and even seriously considered flying in for the two days, BUT I want to be there with My Camaro taking advantage of getting it autographed by Scott and others, driving in the rally, drag racing, etc. I would not expect it to be in So Calif (not that we dont have the weather for it) its to far for our other coasters. That being said however, we do have an event this coming Sat that was put together as an idea to get 100 c5's together for a picnic about 3 months ago (Tribone chime in). A one day meet has out grown the original venue, been picked up by a major Sponser (Stillen) to host at their location, with approaching some 150+ 5th gens, and surprises from other vendors as well. This is being attended by groups rallying down form Northern Calif, Airzona, Nevada, meeting up along the way very similar to the way you all did to Atlanta. The point of this is that there is a lot of passion for our Camaros on this side of the Rockies and if we can bring over halve of the attendance that was at the Camaro5 Fest for one day, I think that supports trying to find some middle ground for next years Festival. Or if what wont work, next year in the West, the following back to the East and just alternate. Just some considerations to throw in. Even the Power Tour and events like that change their areas covered each year as to allow everyone to be involved. Just remember were not a convention like SEMA where you fly in/fly out to see some cool things and latest trends. Its an expierence and you need your car there with you.

I'm for having it in Valdosta, Ga again. The track was AWESOME, the Hotel was VERY,VERY NICE and VERY receptive to activities going on in the parking lot into the wee hours. The locals and restaurants were really receptive and Law Enforcement was very cool as well.
However, I'm not opposed to Atlanta, Bowling Green, Indianapolis areas if that were more centrally localized for everyone. I think attendance would really drop if it were on the West coast.

I was thinking more June-ish...most colleges have been out for a while by then (except mine ) and all the parents with kids in grade school won't have to worry about that.

You may lose some east coasters by going to a place like Vegas but you'll pick up a LOT more California people, midwesterners, and the die hards will find a way to get there from the East Coast...just like the die hards from the west coast and Canada found a way to get to the east coast.

Hartland in Topeka can handle the crowd for sure. One thing that was a disappointment to me was the fact that the Saturday night track party didn't happen. I'm not sure what happened there but it was one of the main events where everyone would come together in one place and socialize. Let's make sure that our main socializing activity happens next year!
