New Prototype Appears To Be Testing A Future Camaro?

So I think we should take this with a massive grain of salt. But it is very cool to think about.
I am leaning towards thinking it is a test mule for some new engine or Connect & Cruise package (As guessed about in the article), but who knows at this point? The fact that it has Manufacturer plates and is part of GM's test fleet is very interesting.

A new Camaro based on the 3rd gen? Would love to see a render of that.

That vehicle has been seen entering/leaving the testing facility several times over the past few years. The most prevalent and believable rumor is it is used to research/test various new components for use in upcoming revisions/updates to Camaros and other vehicles, as well as inclusion in future generations.

And here I thought the next gen car was going to have a factory cage
It would be cool to get close enough to it to see what they’ve done.

Yea, I am very curious.

Also nice to see they keep at least a few Gen 3's still in near perfect shape.

I agree that is a bad looking car for sure, kinda reminds me of my dads ‘86.

The 6-spd LT1 T-56 was a direct swap for the T5 in 3rd gens and fairly common, I was planning on putting one in my IROC. Also, I doubt GM would put a Borla cat-back one of their test mules rather than their own GMPP setup. Nothing to see here folks, probably just some engineer's personal toy.

I loved my 3rd Gen 1991 Z/28 Convertible. I wish I could have kept that car. Bright Red, Red Leather, Black top, 305, 5-Speed. Cam was walking in the block and didn't want to fool with it so I traded it in 01 on a Bullitt Mustang I kept for 17 years. Still wish I had the Z/28.

J Rod is right on here. That car has a 4th gen borla exhaust. It’s either an early LT1 or LS1 swap with a T56 behind it. Still very cool but nothing futuristic.

This is undoubtedly a test mule for some type of GM Performance drive train. Nothing more, nothing less.

I've always thought the 3rd generation was the worst looking Camaro ever made. Here's my preference list.

1. 5th (Currently own)

2. 1st
3. 2nd - Have owned '77 Firebird

4. 4th - Have owned '97 30th Anniversary

5. 6th Going to pass

6. 3rd "That's a Camaro?"
