Getting to speed limit very quickly.

Everyone knows speeding is stupid ,against the law and warrants a ticket.
My question is, has anybody gotten a ticket for getting to the speed limit very quickly? ( as in 0-60 in 5 sec.)
And I don't mean wreckless driving and interfering with other vehicles.
And is there a law against it? ( 0-60 in 5 sec.)

that is a good question, and I think there is a fine for care from start to stop or something like that, so there probably is a law for it.

You can get tickets for 'excessive acceleration' as it falls under the 'exhibition' series including burning out. Though what is considered 'excessive' is probably a matter of opinion (0-60 in 5 seconds would likely get you a ticket)

Ya, it's excesive acceleration here. If he want's to be an a-hole, or give you an extra ticket for BEING and a-hole, he can always get you for failure to maintain 'Proper' control of the vehicle, if you spin the tires.

Exhibition of speed here, and the City and County of Denver will seize and sell it at auction if you don't have a loan against it.

I got pulled over here in Albuquerque on my R6, not my Camaro, for excessive acceleration.
I did'nt get a ticket because he said I never broke the tire loose.
But I still think it's a matter of opinion as to how fast you got to a certain mph, and have no idea how it would hold up in court.

Unfortunately it's going to be the cops opinion. Always is.
