I had to have my car towed. The guy tried to tow it from the front. I told him no! Also, it was stuck in park anyway so that wasn't going to happen. But since he didn't speak a word of English (happened in Miami) I had to let him figure it out for himself. He was going to tow it 30 miles on the rear wheels! Would that have done damage?

I believe that the owners manual specifically says not to tow the Camaro on it's wheels.
Flat tow (on a tow truck) only. I would guess that 30 miles of towing as you describe would totally trash the rear-end!

NEVER tow a automatic trans car on its drive wheels!

It can burn up the transmission

100% Truth! Modern cars cannot be towed in that manner. Which is why MOST tow trucks, show up in a flatbed. Internal components of the transmission are still turning even in neutral. If the engine is not running, the pump is not lubricating = damaged transmission.

If the driveshaft were removed, it would be a non issue. Big rig tow truck for semi's will actually remove the driveshaft prior to towing for this reason. Your average tow truck driver for the automotive world, wont do that.

They towed it on the front wheels. I now notice some studder when I brake. Like the front rotors are warped. Maybe it's coincindence.

My Camaro's and Firebirds were always flat bedded.

Tow from the rear the front valance will drag on the ground

Tow from the front and you damage the valance and your driveline.

Dollies or flat bed but to go a short distance there is enough trans fluid with it tilted up in the air engine not running to keep most everything lubed. I wouldn't go over 45mph or 50 miles though. Next time force them to get the dollies out.

I'm surprised your boy didn't know this. It's pretty common knowledge, and for a tow truck driver, it's really kind of important to know...
