Ceramic window tint - anyone used it?
I talked to a local tint place today after seeing a piece on TV about ceramic window tint and how it's better at heat rejection than the typical metallic window films.
Seems as though there are two players in this area right now: http://www.formulaone.com/pinnacle.htm http://www.huperoptikusa.com/consumer_auto.cfm This stuff is pricey but I'm only going to tint my windows once. I'll probably do 35% on the doors and 15% on the rear & quarter windows. The shop I talked to charges $299 for the metallic tint and $499 for the ceramic tint, before the, ahem, cash discount. Anyone used this type of tint yet or have anything good or bad to say about it?

When I worked in aftermarket for a dealership, I sold this stuff from Formula One. It turns out very nice and resists fading better than anything Ive seen. It is pretty pricey tho...but I like it a lot....

Thanks for the info SilverBulletSS. I'm definitely looking for something that resists fading and I want something that is closer to black instead of bronze/green'ish in color.

Look for pix of my car. Search vinylgraphics, autotrim, or just my ID. I love the ceramic.

LDGn63 - What % tint did you get and do you know if it is FormulaOne or HuperOptik?
That's dark and look awesome but is it legal in TX?

I went to LATint. They use a Pinnacle series. I believe this is what you are inquiring about.
My car cost 285 w/ 35% all around. He had me put my hand under this sun lamp, and he turned a dial with all the different tint shades. This cust the heat almost to nothing. I went with it. With the slants of the windows it only made since to stop the sun from beaming in the car. I did a medical waiver for VA, to get the tint to 35%. Still waiting on final paperwork. They will not give you a receipt until you are legal with it. They take CC, but wont give a receipt. Not sure what that is about. Like I can't show they did the work? Pinnacle Series - Designed to work with today's advanced automotive electronics. Thx
It's Lumar ceramic. Tx legal all around. If memory serves it is 35% on the sides and 20% on the back. The black interior and light exterior makes it look darker I love it. I did the heat lamp test as well and was so impressed I postponed my tint job untill I could google it to verify! My car is in an uncovered lot and does not get super hot like my other cars with normal tint. Could be the tiny windows? But then again that back windowcould double for a solar panel! ;-)
