Camaro V-6 MPG :-(

So I have a 2010 6 speed v6 and now have about 14000 miles on it now. I dont know if this is a problem or not but my average speend is like 43 and I'm only getting 22.8 MPG on average. is this a problem? or is this the average? I work at night and drive on a 4 lane (2 each way) road and go about 70 to 73 on average. should I bring the car to the dealer and have it checked out or is this normal?

What are the other conditions? How far is your commute? How many stop signs/traffic lights?
My avg speed is about 47-50, but I have 20 miles of backroads(5 lights, max, 3 stop signs) then 40 miles of freeway.
I have found that you need to be in the 65-70mph on the freeway for MAX efficency or 75-80 for the next best.
For some reason the engine doesn't like the 70-74mph range.
Just got my BEST tank since I got the car, 30.17mpg! That is with 33995 on the odometer.
Also using the Dexos oil from GM/Chevrolet.

Are you checking mileage by the DIC or actual mileage with fill-up gallons divided into miles driven?

Have you been resetting the MPG counter at every gas tank fill up?

I drive probably around 300 miles or more a week, mostly country roads and highway but i usually average about 25. On just highway im probably about 27-28 and i drive rather spiritedly.

When i was in the hill of NC where all the roads are quite limited i was only getting about 20 but then i hardly got out of second or third gear in the hills.

Average on the Window Sticker says 22. 55mph seems to be the sweetspot on the car if you want to improve the MPG.

I usually get around 25. First drive home after getting gas it's gets up to about 28, then after a few days it drops to about 22. Then it slowely raise back to 25. I guess I should say that's according the dic.

Like the others have mentioned the best mpg mph range is betwen 55-65. I never drive that since the speed limit here on the highway is 70 or 75 so I do about 80. Sucks on gas mileage but I still average out to around 23 with some city driving added into that figure.

In town I get around 19, lots of stop and go and then add my heavy foot and shifting when I redline when I get up to speed.

Yes, because your average is since you got the car. The MPG may have improved since then. You should reset after every fillup to get an idea of what your MPG is. That average you have has considered everytime your car has been at a standstill, in traffic, running A/C or not. If you reset after every fillup you can get an idea of what speed works best for you.

The best I've had - which was all highway for about 42 miles and average speed on DIC was about 65 - was 33.1.

On a full tank of gas, the average MPG usually is in the very low 20s, but that includes when my wife drives it and she does a lot of stop & go.

Typically for me:
avg highway speed ~65, mpg ~32; 70, 30; 75, 29
total avg speed ~35, mpg ~22

If all around town, stop & go, the avg mpg is usually below 20.

I also do not reset the mpg part on the display. I'm basing my findings off of this reading. Should I use the gass receipt instead?

I get about the same.....and I believe its NORMAL. I have a 25 mile each way commute, and its all highway......but I also do a small amount of driving in town, now and then. I also drive about the same speed as you when on the highway. so what you are actually seeing is a COMBINED City/Highway MPG. the true SWEET SPOT of MPG is about 65. IF you were to go and ZERO the DIC MPG, get on the highway immeditatly and set your cruise at 65......drive that for about 20 to 30 minutes, then check your DIC, you will see that the average MPG would be somewhere about 26 to 28.
