Now on to the Forgestars with Toyo 888s 285/35/20 and 315/30/20...

Tires are grippy... Drove 5mi round trip to a buddies house show him the new treads... Picked up every thing. Should do well at track. Road noise wasn't a big deal... Fuse is out on my npp exhaust anyways

On to the wheels...
Got them from a member here ... Good price 1300 shipped with lugs and center caps...

Lug nuts are junk. One time torque on and taking them off the finish is fubar... My McGard work just fine with the wheels will be using those.

The center caps, even putting oil on the oring required me to hit them with a rubber mallet ... Broke a couple of them... Gonna lathe out aluminum ones... Factory was plastic.

There was so much paint in the hub and lug nut areas that the rear wheels stuck to the axels... Had to rock them off... One I had to beat the tire with rubber mallet... Going to take some sand paper and remove the paint in the hub area ...

Finish in the wheels were ok... Some blotches/bubbles from the paint.

I think they will make a fine track wheel... Eventually they will get powder coated matte black ...

There was a ridiculous amount of weights added to get them to balance

Looks good! Just a tip on balancing wheels. I have had this problem before having to add so much weight to the wheel to get them to balance. What I did was to let the air back out of the tire [it will have to be broke back down] and spun it 180 degrees, aired back up and it did not take hardly any weights at all. It will work most of the time but not always but it is worth a try.

Hoosier's specs for these tires are 30.2 dia, 13.1 section and 11.2 tread. Can you please measure and see what measurements you get.
Did you have to tie your emergency brake cables back?

I just put my first set of replacement tires on mine yesterday. Stock sizes but Nitto 555R drag radials in the back and 555's (275's) in the front. I have had the car a few months and the Goodyears were gone at 9500. I was very interested in how much weight they would take to balance. Best was .5 Oz on the inside and 1.0 Oz the outside. Worst (rear tire) was 3 Oz on the inside and 1 on the outside. Did not spin just the wheel but I am assuming most of the balancing needed was due to the tire. Tech said the wheels (stock 10 spoke) looked OK. Rode good up to 100 mph on the drive home. My question is you said a lot of weight was needed to balance your combination - can you define a lot of weight? I am wondering if 3 0z is a lot of weight on my wheel or within the normal range. Thanks

Didn't check the amount of weights but if I remember right was three stacks of weights in one part of the rim on the Forgestars...

I'll look snap a pic when I get home from work

I don't know what is considered a lot of weight when it comes to wheel balancing... Just more than I've seen before on a wheel...
