Exclamation * * Convertible update / warning * *

I seen someone post "Don't worry, GM will build as many as they can" when it comes to the convertible....and that allocation isn't an issue.

This is VERY UNTRUE.

Every dealers Estimated Guide Number is going to hold pretty solid...this will be the 2011 model year allocation. We got bonus coupes the first few months, and we were already told we are the Midwest's Warehouse for convertibles, and many other dealers are just getting one unit....and it will be EXTREMELY RARE for any dealer to get "bonus units".

I will stress to everyone to work with a dealer you can TRUST, or you flat out may not get a car. Orders entered do not mean it will be built, if the dealer exceeds his / her guide number.

I'm not posting this to sell more - my allotment is S-O-L-D! I am posting this because I had COUNTLESS calls when the coupe production started, and heard many disappointed people...who I tried to help the best I could, and helped others find allocation without mark-up. I just hope we avoid the disappointment this time around...

"The Blur" is know to be the one that says - I have said from the start "WORK WITH A DEALER YOU TRUST"!

I don't think you will have ANY problems with ANY dealer on this board - NO ONE EVER HAS!

Good to know. Thanks Scotty.

But if you can't get a 2011 'vert, they'll build 2012s. If they sell well, they'll build more. They always have. And if they want to get into the black and stay there, they always will.

So just wait. Looks like I'm going to have to. The wife has her eye on an Acadia or CTS sedan at the moment....but we're still keeping the 2010 Camaro.

The other BIG question is WHEN the dealer may actually get their (1) allocation. It may not be for several months down the road. That's the problem I initially ran into.

Rmember that Allotment is total number for build from Jan thru June... Allocation is DIFFERENT!!!

Let me clarify...
Allotment is the total number of cars the dealer will get(Classic Chevrolet has 57 Allotments). These cars will be built between Jan 2011 and June 2011. (Note that all 2011 Sold Orders MUST be in by March or your car will be a 2012).

Allocation is based monthly... currently we are in November consensus and dealers know what their allocation for the last two weeks of the November consensus are. We were allocated 3 for the week of 12/2 and 4 for the week of 12/9. The December consensus comes out on 12/16 and that's when we'll know how many cars that we get for the ordering cyles of Dec.

Hopefully that will not confuse you more, but if it does, call me and I'll try to explain better...

Unfortunately, yes. I remember the $5000 markup over MSRP and the dealer add ons like the popular paint protection and undercoating. Yuk!

That's what people in Hawaii were paying - and many didn't honor the military discount.

GIVE ME A BREAK! The people serving in Hawaii DESERVE the discount!
