Drag Radials

Anybody out there tried the Nitto Drag radials yet. I was thinking of getting a set of rears for the tract but not sure if their worth the money.

I don't know how the nittos do on this car, but can say they helped none on my 07 Z06.

I had 100+ documented 1/4 mile passes on the car with 25% being on the stock runflats and 75% being on 18" Nitto Drag radials (slightly less contact patch). After I went back and looked at all runs my average 60' was .01 better with the Nittos. However, I would have expected a better improvement on my next 75 passes had I have stayed with the run flats.

I had nitto's on a mustang and as soon as I left the tire shop I hit it. The car went side ways and I thought these thing were junk. I went to the next light and just barely took off and I spun again. I thought you have got to be kidding me. At the next red light I just let it rip and spun them as far as they would go. At the next red light I did this again and the car just took off and did not spin. From there on, the car would never spin if you took off really hard. So the moral is they suck when you first get them till you get that first little bit of rubber off and then they are Awesome. Hope this helped I think you will love them.

My engine builder tells me that I am going to have to put drag radials on the rear after the engine swap. Says if I don't, I will get in trouble. So I'm thinking about the Nitto NT555R, 305/35R20. But I am also thinking about staying with the Pireli's in the 305's and keep the TC on.

Had the same experience with previous car (vortech mustang)
Only problem is that they tend to wear FAST (nitto 555R)!

From what I have read, the Nitto 555R sucks :(

and it is the only 20" option, so it forces all of us that want to hook up to go for an 18" tire. then we have the trouble of finding an 18" rim that would fit over the SS caliper.

I hopefully have this problem solved on monday, the tire is easy
Drag Radial -
MT ET Street Radial 2
305/45/R18

The rim is the hard part, very few options, and most of them custom and expensive. I'll let you know what i find though

They work very well but they need a lot of heat to work. And as stated they wear very fast.

nittos suck, go with mickey thompsons, I have had both on my 69, and if you line up 275 nittos with 275 mickey thompsons, the mickeys are significantly wider as well.

Did you find anything out on the wheels? Make sure you post up any info when you get it. I'm probably going down to the track this week, would like to have something other than stock rubber on her.

Nitto's work very well on the street and depending upon how you drive and how many track runs you have you can get up to 15,000miles out of them (I have done it)....they suck at the track however, and the MT's dominate at the track (expect only 4-5K miles out of the MT's).

wow i love nitto. but then again i have never tried there slicks. i purchased a set of nitto neo gens for my tc and noticed a big diff in handling and how they grab better, but then again those are for street and yeah the life all depends on how you drive.

o yeah and i guess it does not help that i can get nitto's very cheap. cheaper then a dealer gets them. guess that another reason to why i like them.
