20x10.5F x 20x12R?!?!

Hey guys,

Not much of a 'poster', more of a 'browser' because apparently I'm at least 2 months behind on questions regarding our cars and anything I need is answered with a search or two...

Any-who, I'm thinking I'm first on this topic... The brand new XO VERONA MONSTER PACKAGE 20x10.5F/20x12R!!! Very similar to the Z28 reps MRR has with their new 228 model but far more massive. I saw these wheels and was like...

Here they are... http://n4sm.com/products/wheels/xo-verona-matte-black

But, with anything comes the 'it's too good to be true thought'.

So, a couple of questions (and opinions are fine too) for the experts and enthusiasts out there...

1. Fitment: Will the width's extra half inch in the front and/or extra inch in the rear be an issue? I know they have the offsets capable of making this work with our 1LE's (2014 for me), but will it affect anything in the handling or clearance? To me, it would be foolish to greatly affect the part of ours cars we love the most!

2. Front Tires: The two size options are: 275/40-20 or 285/35-20 (Rear is standard at 315/35-20). Which do you think would work best in matching our car's configuration? Any issues with the fitment of these sizes, front or rear?

3. Color: Interested to know if anyone would deviate from our stellar looking black wheels that set us apart so well (I don't think I could live with wheels that aren't black having a SW). But, anybody out there that would prefer the silver finish?

4. OEM Wheels: Any interest in my OEM's??? As much as I'd like to have a spare set of wheels of this caliber to brag about, I can't justify it. Plus, I'm sure there are plenty out there who regret not clicking the $3,500 1LE option box and drool every time they see a set.

Any and all feedback is helpful. Trust me, I can deal with the criticism if you want to go that route. Just looking for some honest advice and guidance.

Thanks guys.

-Matt

Your car will be slower and corner worse, the 1LE is designed around a square setup to aid in bringing down understeer and the suspension setup is designed for the 285's. Also those wheels are not Forged like the 1LE/ZL1 wheels so im sure youll add about 30-40lbs in weight in just wheels... They do look nice but in a performance standpoint its a downgrade.

I appreciate your input. No question that going away from the 285's is going to be a factor in performance. More of a question of how much?? Being wider would make me think more stable, maybe a little more natural grip too, especially taking off from a red light.

The weight is a good point too. I haven't seem the exact weights though... One thing I'll need to learn prior to pulling the trigger.

I don't track my car, but plan to after my mods are done (I've got a specific, patient, and expensive plan). A track setup can come later.

It should be wise to note also that these are available in two other setups...

Staggered- 20x9, 20x10.5
Square- 20x10.5

Sounds like I'm trying to talk myself into it. I really like these things. Hopefully some more folks have a minute to chime in.

Ok... Found the weights:

- OEM is 26.2 lbs in the front, 28.7 lbs in the rear.

- XO has them listed at 20x10.5/29.9 lbs (+3.7 lbs over OEM) and 20x12/30.7 lbs (+2.0 lbs over OEM).

Surprisingly close, especially considering the bigger sized wheels. Still waiting for the 'too good to be true' story before the tax return comes in!

I think it's a pretty bad idea if you will attend road course track events. Besides being heavier they will also most likely be weaker. I hate the jargon, but I have to say it: replicas and cast wheels are almost always poser wheels, so keep them to shows and nicely paved roads.

Look bottom line, the Z/28 rims fit the 1LE as far as rotational mass get a 19" rim its alot better.

The factory wheels are hard to beat. Those may have a look to them but are a downgrade. Save your cash for something else.

The badass looking factor is hard to beat. When I get my 1LE it will never see a road course, maybe a drag strip...

Yea, exactly my point. I don't plan to track it whatsoever. If that changes, I'll spring for a track setup. These wheels would be the best looking on the road IMO. And the 12" Rear?!?! I can deal with a little performance loss that only the track times would show.
