Black Rims

Hey everyone, I hope you are all safe. My car turned 1 on May 6th(it's a 2014) so she's one to me. I posted about this before regarding switching my silver rims to black ones. I have a yellow Convertible and the car came with silver rims. They are staggered 20x8 in front and 20x9 in rear. I have been blacking out what I can i.e badges, rear tail lights, the bow ties because I am preparing for changing the rims to black. I can go the dealer route(and even the guy on the phone laughed at the price) $475 a piece for the 5 spoke. Now I've noticed that Phastek and West Coast Camaro have sets of 4 and staggered for about a grand. I was just wondering if any of you had suggestions or a "go to" place when it comes to rims. Any suggestions would be appreciated Thanks and stay safe. Joe K.

I bought my MRRs 228 through phasetek. MRR is a very reputable aftermarket wheel company.

I went with Factory Reproductions and they were terrific to deal with.

I did the same thing. At first I did Plasti dip to see if I would like it. Then I painted them and love them.

Nice looking wheels. What are the weights on them? Id love black wheels myself but don't want to add 10lbs a wheel just to get it.

Joe; Like you I own a 2014 rag top, mine is in Ashen Gray Metallic. I also done away with the silver wheels and now owner several sets of wheels, two sets in black. I have a beautiful set of ZL1 reproductions that are 20X10 on all four corners, with the expense of tires I like to rotate. This set of wheels is wrapped in Continental Extreme Contact DWS06 in size 275/35/20, rides and tracks beautifully.

Second set of black wheels is also a square setup, using the 2019 OEM 20X8.5 wheels wrapped in Goodyear Eagle 99Y run flats size 245/40/20 on all four corners.

I am putting together a set of 20X9" R42 2014 wheels (still need 2 more 9" wheels if you know of any for sale) Once the set is complete the powder coater is going to do the set in Ashen Gray Metallic! He's going to pick up the two 9" wheels I have tomorrow morning! Those will be wrapped in
255/40/20 Pirelli Cinturato P7 tires.

I also have a set of OEM 21" that I purchased new about two years ago, again square setup. Not fond of the chrome so I will sell the 21" set and find another black setup. LOVE wheels!

28 lbs each. Factory 1LE/ZL1 wheels are black and are lighter in weight and they are forged.

Plastidip is the easiest and most cost effective way. Just watch a few videos on it and do LOTS of light coats.

Words of advice.. Don't ever service your car (except when under warranty) with a stealership and certainly don't buy anything from these crooks. Just installed these last week and couldn't be happier with the look and Quality. Bought rims from Phastek $1200

I went with fake ZL1 wheels from LG Motorsports. Had them since 2015 and they have held up well. Still look new. Got them for 900$ plus tax and shiping when they were running a special. They were a sponsor not sure if they still are. Haven't seen them post in a while. Only negative, can't use a factory Chevy center cap on the LG's from what I have read. Haven't tried one. FR's can take the factory Chevy center cap.
