I noticed that some of the RJTs in the database have the added descriptor "premium paint". Is this an available option, and if so what is it, exactly?

RJT, or red jewel tintcoat, is an extra-cost paint option due to its metallic nature.

A $325 option and well worth it....gorgeous!!
(Maybe not WELL worth it, but worth it to me)

I know I have read it before, but what step process does it take to paint RJT??

Does it need a base like a candy coat or is it a solid metallic paint??

It's a metallic red that can be dark red to pink.

Close to Candy Apple Red but little lighter.

It's 2 coats if you look in the RJT thread look for trunk or underhood pics to see the base coat.

No no, this would appear to be something extra besides the usual RJT.

Look in the database, there is an option to filter by Exterior color. One is RJT, another is "RJT premium paint", which implies there's something extra to it.

Must just be how those early ones were put in the db. There is no difference.

Both IOM and RJT are now listed as premium paint.

Yea it's always been additional cost. Just IOM was moved to premium after pre orders ended.

Thats exactly right and acctually I was thinking of getting my licsense plate to either say:

kand-apl which means= Candy apple cause thats what the car looks like or it was gonna say

RJT-Maro Red Jewel tintcoat or it was gonna say

They actually have been using this color on other cars for awhile [ I think ] I have an '08 Cobalt that is Sport Red Tintcoat, 300.00 upcharge and I swear it's the same as RJT.

I've also seen it on Malibu's and many other Brands have a red very similar. Looks super in the sunlight, a little darker in overcast or nightlight.

my 04 GMC came with sport red metallic if I'm correct...and It's an awesome color in different lights.

The color they used for the 40th Ann. Corvette was a bit darker and was not very well liked. Well it was considered a fail basically.. but I liked it.
