Anyone think GM didn' want us touching the car?

Can't tune it, plus (Most likely) a torque limiter stopping most bolton's from doing their job.

Or am I impatient or unrealistic in what to expect out of the engine

Modification is in the Camaro's blood. GM does have to cover their ass, though.

I think GM gave us V6ers a "perfect" car when it comes to engine and drivetrain stuff. When I say perfect, I mean a perfect balance of performance and drivability for the casual Camaro owner (not us on this website). From my browsing and studying, I can deduce four quick and dirty ways to increase horsepower and torque in this V6:

1. Axel/Cat-back Exhaust - I went with great sound at a very inexpensive price and chose Flowmaster AMT axel-back. I didn't think the cat-back was worth twice the price I paid. Plus Flowmaster had my favorite sound. My car doesn't sound import-ish.

2. Cold Air Intake - I went with the replicated dyno numbers and chose Injen and I am very pleased.

3. Shorty Headers - I live in CA, so I'm going to wait this one out until I know for a fact there are street legal options that have dyno results. This is a next summer mod for me (I'm a teacher).

4. Car Specific Tune - I am not playing around with my powertrain warranty, so I'm not even thinking about this. But people have done it and gotten great results. I'll do it in five years if I'm not rocking a 6th generation SS by then.

Those four mods should give you a very solid V6.

True they do increase HP, but torque is limited for almost everyone who has done mods on it.

IMO its locked down to keep it from pulling a "Turbo Trans Am" move and bothering the v8s. With DOHC, VVT, DI, forged crank this thing would be a beast if GM would let it have boost.

Yep..........getting torque out of this ride has been disappointing.

Why would GM care if you touch the car or not?

I don't know maybe their confidence in the tranny is not to high with a higher torque

Haven't followed the v6 threads...has anyone released gears? If not, maybe switch to an SS rear end and regear it. That'll wake it right the hell up. Maybe make up for some of the torque.

Yeah, we have 3.55, but no one has them yet

I've been thinking about the SS rear swap, with half shafts. Need to find a totalled SS....

Also, I'm around 250lb-tq, so it's in there. I've toyed with the idea of having Vince remove some more of the torque management from the tranny, see if that improves those numbers a bit. Otherwise, we need boost or spray.

I think when bmwdon get's his intake/tb on his wife's car, we are going to be pleasantly surprised! The v8 guys have a FAST replacement manifold at least, we have nothing.

We need some more aftermarket support!!!
