Low speed steering locks ( long post)

I've had my 17 2ss since the first of the year (2600 miles currently) and some time around March i went to make a turn at an intersection, gave enough gas to get rolling and turned the wheel about an inch or 2 when it suddenly locked and wouldn't let me turn it that direction anymore. It only lasted maybe a whole second or just enough to startle me then went back to normal and working as it should. It has since happened about 10 more times (both directions from a stop or just above) but I've been waiting until I could replicate it on demand before taking it in. Then a couple days ago I was turning into the store parking lot and it not only stopped but force turned the opposite direction about a quarter turn. So I'm taking it in on Friday and was curious if anybody has an idea what it could be?

Something in the steering rack. Tie rods perhaps? Either way, it sounds dangerous and I probably would have taken it in sooner. Hope the shop can sort it out for you - keep us posted!

This is interesting. My 2LT would sometimes lock for a fraction of a second when on the highway. I thought perhaps it was lag in kicking on the power assist and that I was experiencing hard steering for a second but am beginning to wonder if it is something else. I have not experienced it in a while.

Tell dealer to reference service bulletin #17-NA-115 software update for the power steering control module.

I don't think it is as it isn't making any noises when it happens.

So I got it back Friday after a couple of hours and apparently they found that the main power wire was not all the way into the connector. So far so good though.
