I did some research and the actual code for the 8L90 that mates to the LF4 is the MGG. The M5U is for the V8's, M5N is for the LFX. For some reason though it is referred to as the TL-80SN in 2014 GM documents.
I did find one for sale, the bellhousing matches up. https://www.ebay.com/itm/2016-Cadill...8AAOSwQWxbKD5C This is from the 2014 GM Document, it says the sedan CTS 3.6L LFX/LF3. |

Yep!! You are correct. My info confirms the MGG. This is exciting for sure. And the fact that the TCU is an auxiliary component, well, that makes life a bit more easier if adapting to other ECU's. I really believe this can be done. GM is great at building upon previous and existing circuits as I discovered in my LLT to LFX conversion. If I had the time, I would really explore the compatibility of this conversion. Mechanically, it is a piece of cake. If anyone wants to explore this, I have all the electronic diagrams and circuit numbers with definitions. Of course, they can be obtained from ALL DATA, as well but be sure of exact application because it can get confusing with all of the combinations. With your vast knowledge, Magnum, I think you could make it happen. And the transmissions are becoming more and more available and prices are right and could be negotiated down even more with the seller, due to fact that they only will work with a few and limited vehicles. (slow movers) What a performance improver!!!!!

The Aisin 8-speed supports engines up to 3600 cc with maximum engine torque of 372 N·m / 4800 rpm (LFX) and 583 N·m / 3500-4000 rpm (LF3).
read that ..true or no?

Wouldn't worry that you bought a 6L50, the TL-80SN would be a lot of work. Found out it is actually a Lexus/Toyota transmission, so dont know how much would be interchangeable with the 8L90. Just a lot of unknowns.

Off topic but related. If that's the case, would you think the LF4 TR6060 combination in the ATSV would work for us? I've been theorizing that for the better portion of this year.

If the bellhousing lines up, majority of the work would be done. If you can find one cheap, you can test it out.

Started getting parts in and mocked up my new supercharger bracket I'm making. It has a smaller footprint in the engine bay and moves the head unit back 2.5", making room to run a 4.5" intake pipe to help the supercharger breathe easier. Getting measurements right now to see what intercooler I can use, but looks like I will have plenty of room behind the passenger side fog light with this setup.

That 4.5" pipe should sure help it breathe well. Curious if your using a universal bracket and tailoring it for your needs or if you plan on machining one? You find an inter-cooler yet or start working on your plumbing for the water cooler?

First thing I will be doing when I get the tune dialed in is putting it on the Dyno, want to see how close my calculations based off acceleration data is. |
