The overall tone is still there, but it is barely noticeable unless I get on it.
I see..

I have Flowmasters that I just found out are from an LS1 motor. The intake pipes are 3" and have adapters. Real throaty, but my muffler guy says to get rid of the drone, I need to go t the smaller pipe size. Im afraid it may cause the sewing machine sound... Might just keep what i have

It will lower the pitch slightly and reduce the raspiness and give you a smoother, more polished sound.

Great input everyone... but I am starting with the K&N Typhoon first. I have done it to my 08 Silverado and loved it and know how to install.
Will do Exhaust right after I get her oil cans installed next!

I have read through all of Yzark99's excellent thread, but even he notes that hearing the mp3's of different exhaust\intake parts he compares is not as good as hearing in person.

so for sound as being at the top of my list, what has proven to be the best bang for your buck?

thanks!
Get a Green air filter. Cut silencer off of the stock intake and make a cover plate to fill the hole. Ported TB. Port the intake manifold. JacFab spacer. Remove the second set of cats. Replace x pipe with a resonated x pipe. 2.5" straight pipe about 12-14" then another resonated x pipe. Then 2.5" straight pipe the rest of the way back.

Where yo you get a new elbow for it? I have the CAI on a vmax, but if i were to upgrade to the 80mm, the elbow is too small, correct?

Overkill has the elbow for sale on their website, so you can purchase it when you purchase the throttle body. It is not a perfect fit, but probably the best you're going to find without having something custom made. It can also be bought off of ebay if you purchase the throttle body used.
