3in exhaust system

So I recently purchased a 3in exhaust system made by ARH however, the mufflers I have use a 2.5 inlet. I've done some looking around and I don't see a lot of 3in mufflers so is it typical to get a reducer in this case? I know using a reducer is not ideal but I can't imagine that I'll loose that much performance by going this route.

Do most of you guys go the reducer option?

If you are keeping the car naturally aspirated, having it reduced down to 2-1/2" at the mufflers isn't a huge deal.

Are you doing the work yourself or having a shop do it? In either case, if you wanted to keep it 3" all the way, you could cut out the 2-1/2" inlet pipe and weld in its place a 3" exhaust coupler to maintain a slip-fit joint, or just weld your 3" pipe directly to the muffler.

If you don’t want to reduce down to 2.5” mufflers check out Flowermaster,Borla or Steelworks 3” mufflers for non-NPP cars.

this is not accurate. there are plenty of 3" mufflers

but yes, reducers are an option if you prefer to use 2.5" mufflers

I have a convertible so this one will not work. Ideally, I was looking for axle back systems and not just mufflers and for my vert, there aren't a lot of options out there. My gut was telling me that my installation will be a lot less if the guys only need to hookup a axle back versus having to put together pipes and weld things on (such as tips). But, it might be cheaper to have them weld things together versus a axle back system-- I'll have to ask.

it will depend on the price mufflers you use.

Hey Joe, Check out StainlessWorks 3" cat back with 3"mufflers (for Verts too). You'd just have to cut the mufflers at the axle and weld them to your 3" ARH pipes then your 3" all the way.

Dude don't do it. Reducing to a 2.5" muffler inlet will kill 50% of power and torque and make your car sound like a Corolla. /s

In all honesty you will lose no power or torque having a 2.5" inlet all the way at the back of your exhaust system. Have a shop weld it up and youll be fine
