I also like how all of a sudden the live axle is outdated when they worshipped the Crapstang's ride the past few years.

I could see them being able to do it, they did get 440 out of the Boss version's 5.0, but there's just no reason for them to step up to 500 hp in the GT, especially if it's getting lighter. I'm guessing they'll stick with the 5.0 for a while and tweak it over the years.
Whatever n/a 5.4 they're talking about is either some uplevel model or nonexistent imo.

They pull 444hp out of the boss with the 5.0. If they could maintain that efficiency at 5.4l, that'd be about 480hp. . . and the coyote is already ready for DI, so it's definitely very possible.

dont get so upset over it.

Its cool to read the rumors but im interested in what the new one will look like since the current one is so beautiful and a perfect rendition of the 67-68 versions. i bet it will be hard to improve on it but in the end will still look badass .

Keep in mind that the Mustang GT recently gained 100-hp over its previous model year, so it's not unlikely they couldn't do it again in 3 years time.

The 500-hp one is going to be the GT, I'm pretty certain. The current 5.4 makes 550 in the GT500, so I don't think they would revert back to the 2007 GT500 power levels.

As for the weight, I read they'll be using more aluminum and using steel only at critical safety points.

I do however, find it odd that there's no mention of the 5.0. Considering how well Ford is known for sticking with their engines, I seriously doubt the 5.0 would be unused a couple of years after its introduction.

The base 5.0L made 465hp when they spun it up to 7,300rpm on Horsepower TV and I'm guessing if they made a pull on the Boss 5.0L engine it would of made close to 500hp at 8,000rpm given all of it upgrades over the base 5.0.

Everyone's taste is different. I personally don't see why there are people that can say it's ugly but ok. At any rate, this doesn't sound like anything new. I think we have been hearing the promises of it looking more like the original and IRS since the mid-90s. A lot can change in 3 years.

Also it is weird that there is no mention of the 5.0. They just brought the damn thing back. So hope it is a typo and we see a 100 horses per liter. It certainly makes sense considering they have lots of room for improvement in the current engine with Direct Injection and all the mods they did for the Boss to get it to 444hp.

I really wish they would drop the 5.4 and twin turbo the 5.0 for the GT500/Cobra/SVT model. I guess if they redesign the 5.4 for performance it could be good. Needless to say, I will be in the market by then for a new Mustang.

Besides, a Ford "Falcon" makes me think of an Aussie Ford :-D

I imagine the V8 is for the GT500. So what are we talking here the modern take on the Mustang II?
