Greetings - about to place an order for a 2022 Camaro, have a few questions.....

Hi all - Lurked for a bit here and now want to ask a few questions about finalizing my order for a 2022 Camaro! Ive read several threads and have a general idea of what I want. Ive owned other toy cars before and even Camaros back in the day('87 IROC with tpi 350 ) But, its clear you guys/gals here have this figured out so here goes:

1) Due to cost Im going with either the T4 or the V6. 6-speed. Ive read the numerous pros and cons of each motor. The T4 saves me about $1500 bucks but not sure Im thrilled about the turbo idea or not. I plan to have this cra a while too so longevity plays a role. Car will NOT be my daily driver and will spend upstate, NY winters parked in the garage. Just a weekend/nice weather toy. Possible that a few(just a few, not many) track days or autocrosses could happen. No plans to tweak or upgrade much if that makes the V6 more logical to choose. I have nothing against the T4 though if its deemed a reliable and trust-worthy lump!

2) So far, leaning towards Crush with the 20" black rims and dual black stripes. Anyone else have Crush or like the way it looks in person? Ive rarely if ever seen crush one around. Also like Hot red or that riverside blue. Ill have to decide that, obviously!

3) My long time dealer here says to get my order in ASAP for a spring 2022 delivery. He only wants $200 bucks to get me in the system. Is that realistic for wait times? If so, Im fine with it but I'd hate for it to come in in January! Aint driving it in the snow/salt so id have to flatbed it home, lol. This car shortage thing sucks.

Anything else I should know or be aware of? Thanks much for any advice. Ill keep reading the forums here to get more details. Looking forward to doing the Camaro thing again!

Bad news - Crush is no longer offered for 2022. There is a metallic orange that is darker to replace it, there's some pics in another thread on the forum somewhere.

EDIT - this thread has some pics, there aren't many available yet: https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=590286

I don't think spring timing is realistic. I went to place an order late May, and they told me there is a huge backlog on '21 orders they need to get through first, and then the '22 orders. So I was going to be in the back of the line, and they had no estimate when in '22 to expect it.

I ended up finding a low mile 2018 instead.

I wish you luck, and keep us posted.

It all depends on your dealers ability to get an allocation. I ordered mine July 1st and it is scheduled to be made the week of Aug 23rd. I am expecting delivery late September early October. You know just in time to store it for winter. Once they submit the order they should be able to proder you a six character order number

If you're not going to mod the car, then yeah go for the V6 with NPP exhaust. IMHO it's a must have for the V6.

Plus the V6 runs on 87 gas, while the I4 requires premium. The gas cost difference is therefore negligible.

^This

I get 8.2L/100km on my V6 with 87.

NPP is a must on the V6 makes the sound better and adds some nice pops when shifting under WOT.

Thanks everyone - got it on the Crush color. Might just do red anyways. Or the vivid orange. Not a biggy.

My local dealer is a fairly large volume dealer but Im not sure what they'll get or not. Hard to say. Gee - not even a spring time delivery, eh? Hey, it is what it is. That sucks though. :(. Gonna be a long summer waiting for the car to come in! Worst case is I can save more for a larger down payment, lol.

Got it on the V6 - I was leaning towards that anyways.

I will update as I get info. Geesh. What a bummer though. The used market is mostly stupid as far as pricing goes right now. If someone scored a good deal then thats awesome but my limited investigations dont give me much hope. I dont really want to buy a 3-4 yer old car with no warranty when for $8K-$10K more(or even less) I can wait and get a brand new car. My dealer assured me that they will do MSRP at the worst. No markups so that helps. I have a decent chunk to put down(about 1/3 down payment on new)but still need a loan and new car rates are quite a bit better than used car rates too.

No way to know until you get your order in. Sooner you get it in the better your chances are to get it sooner than later.

Highly recommend comparing the pricing of the turbo 4/v6 to an LT1 if you want to step up and get something with a v8. Depending on what options you get, you may be around the same msrp

Yes sir - order will be in by end of day today. Just hope my local dealer here can hook me up! Its weird that on the Chevy site I cant even build 2022 - still only lets me choose 2021. Im sure my guy at the dealer can change anything needed to get the order through. He wants me to build it online and then send him the summary.

There are only a few changes from 21 to 22. Two color changes, two convertible top colors went away, 1LE package went away for v4/v6 models, a set of the 20" rims, and a few other minor changes.

No one "needs" a V8, but boy are they fun.
