I think different dealers do different things. Should not be standard, as mentioned it will attract more dirt. Should have left it alone.

I also hate that crap. What I did when I ordered not only my Camaro but other vehicles is......I don't let the dealer clean or detail it. The main reason is (1) I don't want all the silicone crap on the tires/engine compartment/dash board or anywhere else, (2) I don't want them washing it with brushes or sending it through an automatic car wash and drying it with towels that leave thousands of scratches and (3) I don't want the name of the dealership junking up my new ride with their name. I am buying a car not advertising for them. When I ordered my truck a few years ago, there wasn't a front license bracket on the truck. They don't come from with one from the factory, anyway, Ky does not require a front plate and when the dealer brought my truck to me I noticed the front bracket on the truck and it was put on with drywall screws into the plastic bumper just for the dealer to put on their tag....BULLSHIT, needless to say I did not take the truck until the bumper was replaced and all the crap on the tires/bedliner/engine/interior was scrubbed off. I even made them peel off the dealer chrome emblems that they placed under the make of the truck on the tailgate and both fenders. When I went back to get it, the rear license plate frame was still the dealers, I took out a screw drivers and took it off and threw it away in front of the sales person and told them now it was MY truck and nobody will ever know where I bought it. I guess my school of thought is, if they would knock off 20-30% off the price i would be more than happy to advertise for them with a plate or chrome name strip but they don't so screw em.
