Talking Starminder's CGM Vert

Picked mine up late this afternoon!

I am loving it, but of course it has only been a few hours. I had the shop add a no drill front plate bracket, locking lugnuts, mud flaps, ashtray (it's my change holder) and sequential taillight harness. I wanted them to do my backup camera/mirror but the shop manager chickened out, so I need to find another shop for that soon. I have paint matching license plate frames for after the "real" plates get here. Tonight I added the cargo mat. Not sure it's really needed, actually, it's NOT, but I bought it so there it is. It's pretty thick heavy rubber. I also bought an old Camaro script emblem that I plan to fit on the inside over the glove compartment at some point. I did a bunch of mods to my Mustang and while it was fun there was one I regretted (lowering springs - looked great, but had a lot of problems with it) so I'm going slow on this one. May still add some black hood stripes soon though.

First impressions:

1. Tonneau cover is a pain in the a$$. Period. Plan on wrestling with it.

2. Drives great, runs smooth. Sounds nice but actually kind of quiet, not as throaty as my previous Mustang was. Still good though...

3. The 2SS Interior is very cool. The light around the edge of door was a nice unexpected touch.

4. I LOVE the HUD.

5. Visibility. I've read about some people freaking out. This so far doesn't seem to "feel" much different than my Mustang in regard to blind spots, etc. I'm already comfortable with the reduced visibility, although the windshield seems...shorter? In any case, for anyone worried about it I remember feeling a bit blind when I got my Sebring way back when. You get used to it, you know where to look, you know where your blind spots are. A larger part of it is the different car thing than being a vert. Obviously be very careful at first but I remember getting acclimated quickly to that and the Mustang and I'm guessing this is no different. Anyone who's had a previous vert please chime in, but I'm so far not getting some of the fuss I read about.

6. My salesman kept my tonneau cover instructions accidentally. I can get them, but if someone could upload a printable version that would be cool.

So - anyone still waiting, be patient. Trust me, I KNOW it's a long hard wait, but I have been chuckling at some of the posts where folks are looking for their car a week after they ordered it. Been there, done that. Pretty sure anyone ordering now will not have to wait nearly as long as many of us did (or still are), but the bottom line is it is totally worth it, just try to hang in there and not drive yourself too crazy. There's a lot to read and learn here in the forums and it is time well spent.

I did qualify for $1k Military discount but apparently dealers don't have to accept it (?). I dunno, I guess I thought since it was from GM it was no big deal. I had 3 loyalty coupons but all said not good for the Vert (or the Volt), but supposedly ths one was gonna work. It didn't. Not sure how the process works, just a heads up for anyone else in the same boat.

Another thing I learned...however many miles are on it are however many miles are on it. My paperwork said 5 (which is about what I expected and it made me happy). It really had 13 on it. Hmmmm.

Anyways, I actually have the car so any burning questions just give a yell here. More pics in the Garage.

Very nice, CBG was my other color choice!

I've gone to a couple of dealerships to visit other convertibles. Lol, Mine still is sitting in Canada as of today. Ordered 11/19, built 2/9.

Wow, she sure is purdy!! Love the color too. More pictures though. Is there much noise in the cabin with the top up? I had a Jeep and swore I'd never own another vert just due to all the noise.

It's definitely a looker though!! Welcome to the Club, we're glad to have you aboard. Lori

Thanks, I definitely think so! I think they did a great job with the car overall.

Thanks - tryin'! I know I had a lot of questions, just trying to pass along what little I've learned so far.

OK, I'll do it - I did add 10 to the Garage (see link in my sig), I don't know if I took many more than that yet.

Ouch. Well, I know how ya feel, I really do. I read where someone else said "you want it to be right" and yeah there's a lot of truth to that. If they just spammed 'em out any old way we'd all be up in arms.

CGM wasn't my choice at all, my wife picked it. I think I wanted something brighter..but now that I have it I love it.

Thanks Lori! My last 2 cars were Verts plus 2 others in my distant past, so when I saw the Prototype Camaro I decided i wanted one, if and when they built a Vert.

I think I have a little extra noise going on and plan to have it checked out. At higher speeds I could hear a little air leak next to the window. If air can get in, water can get in. That aside, which does seem like a possible problem specific to my car, overall I'd say it is rather quiet. It's never ever going to be like a hardtop, but I wouldn't want it that way anyways. IMHO it is as expected with a ragtop.
