Talking Movie mistakes only 'car guys' would notice

I was re watching Back to the Future (my all time fave movie) on a blu ray I got for xmas. in the 1955 part of the film when Marty is riding his home made skateboard and is chased by Biff and his gang. Biff's car switches from a 46 ford to a 48 and back again (most of the movie and in part II it is a 46) you can see the turn indicators move from the hood near the hood ornament (46) to below the headlights (47 and 48).

some others:

Passenger 57, Wesley Snipes character is driving a red Corvette convertible in a wide shot on the freeway it is a 86-90 style but when he pulls into a motel it is a 91-92 style (the horizontal trim that runs along the side and fascias of the body that are black from 86-90 are body color on 91-96 as they have different style 'gills' on the front fenders).

what ones have you spotted?

Isn't the car that explodes in Vanishing Point a first gen Camaro instead of a Challenger?

I remember the corvette thing

Commando: Arnold rams Sully's yellow Porsche into the hill and it flops on its side. He needs a car, flips it upright and drives off, good as new when you see the side. Next shot, it's all smashed up.

LMAO. This was just on tv. At the beginning of Commando also, when Arnold pushes his blazer down the hill, you will see it has a black style grill. The Blazer that goes down the hill has a chrome grill.

i think in zombieland the escalade changes to a tahoe because they get the tahoe (which is actually a Suburban) from Bill Murray's house. unless theres another point in the movie that it changes

Beginning of movie, they're on the highway. The scenes of it on the highway are an escalade, then i think when it does stunts it was a tahoe. It was only noticeable by the grill. I pointed it out to my non car friends, so they rewinded and said yes, then called me weird.

Bullitt Charger

I suspect everyone knows that the black 68 charger in the Bullitt movie lost at least 7 hubcaps during the chase scene. It doesn't matter since that's the best movie chase scene ever produced IMO!

I've noticed that many cars in tv and movies use a Mustang sound track, even 4 bangers driving off.

This isn't a car "thing" but it's still a slight goof I noticed while watching Lethal Weapon 3 recently:

In the movie, Mel Gibson takes Danny Glover's vest and sets it up at the gun range, he loads a single "armor-piercing" round into the handgun, then after he shoots the vest he cycles the handgun's slide.

If he didn't have a magazine in the handgun (which is the most likely scenario and would make sense, since he's loading a single round) the slide wouldn't automatically lock back, but the gun would be empty after he fires, so cycling the slide back and forth would be pointless.

If he had an empty magazine in the gun, the slide would lock back after firing, the gun would be empty, and the motion he makes in the movie would not do anything useful either.

If he had a loaded magazine in the gun, then he would have created a strange malfunction when he manually chambered the "armor-piercing" round, because when he released the slide the natural function of the handgun would have been to try and load the first round in the magazine.

My theory is that the first scenario is what happened, and Mel Gibson simply locked the slide back after he fired the shot to indicate a "safe" gun but during editing they added in a sound effect for the sake of having a sound effect. I what they were going for, but it made me scratch my head for a moment...

Bullitt is full of things like that. Look at how many times they pass the same VW bug during the chase scene with the charger or the fact that they must have 20 or 30 speed transmissions because because every scene has them shifting no matter how fast they are going.
