Usually the wires going to the solenoid get damaged.

Also, check the boost reference lines into the wastegates. If they pop off then overboost will occur.

Based on your description...it sounds like a pipe has come off the wastegate.
Although that should never be able to happen as naturally they'd all be secured properly and use good quality pipe.... |

I would agree with Kevin, this seems more electrical. I think if you just had a line off the wastegate it would resort to spring pressure. Having infinite boost tell me the controller solenoid is locked open somehow and you are at 100% duty cycle.

Nope. Losing a boost reference line will resort in max turbo boost. Been there, done that, fastened "correctly" now. Not going there again.

There is almost nothing electrical that will give the symptoms he is describing.
The most obvious place to look is as per above. |

thank you for the advice, and particularly the pic! I didn't install it so wouldn't be sure what to look for. guess its time to crawl under there.

Oh right. Anything bad in the solenoid would result in spring pressure. Overboosting is a bottom line or diaphragm problem. A little hole in a diaphragm can cost you thousands guys. Be careful
