Vehicle License Tax

We all gripe about the increasing fuel prices but here's another hit to the wallet. I got my registration renewal for the Z in the mail the other day and I damn near had a heart attack! Over $900 for my usual 2 year renewal. Looking at the cost itemization I don't see a tax for owning the coolest car ever created but I'm sure it's a hidden surcharge. Hope the money is going to good use 'cause it certainly ain't going to freeway maintenance!

That's pretty close to on par here in Kansas even though we pay every year and I don't have one of those cool Zs. Just paid all mine this week and about $100 more than last year for the same cars. I remember when they use to go down every year. Not sure about AZ but Kansas differs depending on your county and we never have to do emission test.
My home also took a 30% increase this year as well.

WTF!!!! It also costs me $48 bucks and I live in New Jersey... NEW JERSEY!!!!! That's downright robbery, That's a months house tax payment in NJ for the most part and we have the highest home taxes in the country.

If you look, his property tax is included in the registration. I bet yours is two separate bills.

We don't pay property tax on vehicles in NJ, just on our homes. I guess our home property tax makes up for these differences. What is property tax in NC or AZ? Here in NJ I pay just under $10K a year which is considered cheap for many parts of this state.

No property tax for vehicles in FL. After the homestead exemption, my property taxes are about $1300 on a 4br/3ba with a pool. I guess AZ wants people to drive hoopties.

I got my reminder in the mail the other day that mine expires at the end of December. $43 for me. I won’t complain.

I’m always amazed that there are places as bad or worse than CA. I grew up in Ohio but have been gone 40 years but they used to be reasonable. It hardly seems possible one state can be $450 and another $45. The beauty and fallacy of ‘The United States’ of America, I guess.

PA car registration is $36/year. If you are a Senior Citizen, we can get one vehicle per household for $10. So I use that for my Silverado which is $89. I save $79. Real estate taxes are separate from auto registration fees. My property tax is $3900, but the state gives me $750 to help pay my taxes. What a great state I live in.

Yeah, ours is around $1000. 4br/2ba on .25 acre lot.

I hadn't even considered property tax on a vehicle I have already paid taxes on. Man, how does Florida even function without this extra money lol?

And as bad as our interstates are, other states are worse. Plus we have four major road courses lots of drag strips. No wonder everybody wants to move here. Ok, well maybe everyone doesn't care about racing.
