So this thread has me looking into a another bad ass rifle. Not a huge fan of AK accuracy for longer distances and not a fan of ar-15 caliber size for long distances. Kind of what the military is going through.

Just stumbled upon a Robinson Arms XCR. It's a different gun, with the ergonomics of the M4, the bolt of the AK, and the reliability of the FAL. Takedown is actually easier than the M4, barrels (and calibers) are easily interchangeable, and the stock is a huge improvement -- it folds and offers an adjustable cheekrest, so you can actually get a real cheek weld.

Looks Like a good semi auto all around reliable gun that can use the .308 or 7.62x51 round. There are no mountains here in FL so a good 300 meter knockdown gun is all could ever use here. To me sounds better than a FN Scar. Any one have any experiance with them?

Ok did some research on Robinson ARms and not so great. Good gun design and thought though.

I want a HK-91 (G3) if I could find one, or something similar (FAL?). 5.56x45 is ok, but 7.62x51 is a great round. I'm no fan of 7.62x39.

Unless you want to pay stupid prices for an authentic HK, go with a FAL.

I went with the AK for a few reasons. 1- Reliability, 2 easy to maintain and 3 cost of steel cased ammo. This is my third AK and never had any problems with them. I can't honestly say that about the AR platform. Although great, I did have a issue with a Colt AR and a Daewoo K1 (I think that's what it's called.) The Daewoo had the same function and magazines as the AR. The Daewoo was my favorite rifle but I did have a couple issues with it.

I know now that could have easily been a bad mag or crappy ammo that caused the issues. But you know what they say, you never get a second chance to make a first impression.

When it comes to gun and cars though, a second chance can easily sway ones opinion.

I guess Century Arms sells a little bit of everything. Not sure about the price or reliability though.

The G3 clones aren't a bad choice either.

Gunbroker is a good bidding site to get a baseline value on what firearms are going for.

yes, but read the terms - often they add shipping and 3% if you use a credit card. Not a bad thing - just compare apples to apples when shopping online anywhere. Grabagun is like $6 to ship a rifle.

Thanks for the link.

Gunbroker has Century Arms HK-91 clones for $750. Doesn't sound bad.

I've bought several firearms off of Gunbroker. Just be careful not to let Vegas fever take over though, or you will spend more than you were planning to.
