Can’t get 93 octane near me, what do I do?

So, all I can get in my neck of the woods is 91 octane. I am considering a couple of options, just using 91 octane. Getting a octane booster and mixing at every fill up. Getting a 85 octane mod and tune and finding a station around here that sells that (least favorite option).

Anyone else dealing with this?

Background: I have a tune from previous owner that is set for 93 octane. I have headers and if I go back to stock tune the 02 sensors go off. I am in the middle of a build and am trying to avoid paying for multiple tunes when I know I have a big tune coming.

91 is what’s readily available where I am. So, that’s what goes in. No problems.

Just needs to be tuned for what octane you are running. Timing will be slightly less aggressive. If e85 is readily available everyone loves running E. I'm going to have mine tuned on 93 only. Once tuned I'll be adding a bottle of octane boost every tank to add a bit more safety.

Save your money for the big tune. I cannot imagine 93 v 91 being that big a difference in the butt dyno. There’s many here who know more but won’t his fuel table revert to the low octane default if continually used over time anyway?

Where are you? You can give a region of WI if you don’t want to give town/city.

What booster are you planning on using? Power Nation promotes a race fuel additive that you add to regular gas. I think you can mix it to make any octane. I am probably going to pull my fuses and try it for a couple of tanks to see if I feel anything. At least until I get my tune and at that time I will either tune for 91 or 93 and just be a gas station chemist every time I fill up.

E85 has always intrigued me, another type of gas I will have to drive a considerable distance to get it. That is my biggest hang up.

I think your best option based on everything you said is to just run a quality octane booster for now. No sense paying for another retune and you don't want to risk running 91.

I definitely wouldn't consider E85 if you don't have a local station. That just sounds like a major PITA.

From what I've read most octane boosters work by lightening your wallet and you are very unlikely to see even a one point increase in octane.

91 is all we can get here too.

I'm loving no alcohol 93 at $2.19 to $2.40 gal here right now. Went out and circulated some through my engine this afternoon!

There's pretty limited info on how much the octane booster actually adds. Which is why i'll just buy the cheap stuff and add it may not do anything, may help a little bit but all it takes is a little bit sometimes.
There are plenty that run FI on 91 octane. That's the point of getting it tuned, it's tuned for the fuel you are running. Don't put 110 in it then get it tuned, go home and fill up with 91. Now if e85 is somewhat close to you and you might want to run it sometimes you get an e85 setup with a sensor. You will have two tables set up, one for 91 and one for e85 and it will automatically switch over when e85 is sniffed by the sensor. You can leave it very conservative on the 91 tune in that case and have a very large power jump on e85 if you're feeling frisky.

If you have a new build coming up, I'd just use 91 pump. No sense spending more money for a slightly higher octane when you can use that for the build.

In the old days, the local airport used to be a viable option for getting 100+ octane.
However, I don't know if you can still do that. From what I've read, 91 pump mixed with 104 gets you to around 95/96 which is optimal (no spark knock) on a street tune.
