Don't get your tech from any Wiki page.. it's only as good as the person writing it. lol

I have two TR-6060 varients in my shop and I'm currently working with Tremec on a tech story explaining the difference between the TR-6060 (T56 Magnum) and the T56...

Being rated in the 400s is nonsense and the person that wrote that isn't very well informed.

Hey, I got that information from a GM link.. Read the entire post

The only thing I have to say is that my outputshaft on my 2010 camaro m6 broke just shifting into second gear at 5000 rpm, with only 100 miles on the car. tremic told us it was a tampering problem and that the tran should hold 600ftlb. we will see!

Were you doing a burnout when this occured?

Yeah - I caught that too.

I'm not suprised there are different versions of trannies for those cars listed. Shoot, when the LT1 came out in '93, there were two different T56s in F-bodies with different gear ratios and different power ratings. I have to wonder if the power rating has more to do with the gear ratio since you are effectively changing the surface area of the gears when changing ratios. I would think that you'd get more surface area when going higher, numerically, in ratios, just like higher spline counts in axles and diffs', but I know that the ring gear starts to change in thickness too which can be a problem.

I agree with the comments on the 10-bolt too. Mine lasted several years on street tires and didn't complain on DRs (pulling consistant 1.6s and 1.7 60') with a bigger converter. My brother broke his during a burnout when we were racing each other. He didn't know it until we are at about 1000' and heard the rear end coming apart; it was loud enough for me to hear...

Maybe we'll have to change the Wiki once everything's confirmed

No not the out put shaft on the Vette it is the input shaft. Because the rear mounted transmission in the Vette it has a long input shaft that runs from the motor to the transmission. The Camaro does not have this issue because the transmission is directly attached to the motor. You issue sounds like it was just a "bad apple in every bunch" type of thing.

It's my intrepretation that the TR6060 has different specs for not only gear ratios but internal part strength. I was told that this was done to keep the cost down on the TR6060 (M10) used for the SS validated to 430 ft/lbs as opposed to the one used on the much higher hp and expensive CTS-V MG9 validated to 560 ft/lbs and ZR1 MH3 validated up to 650 ft/lbs

I'd be interested in hearing what the Tremec guys say about the internal trans parts of the TR6060 used in different vehicles. Now talking about output shaft failures on the 2010 SS.
